Amy’s right, and I want to believe her, but a part of me is scared. What if I’m wrong? What if he’s just being kind to me out of some sense of obligation, something that’s going to fade away once the reality of our situation sets in?
Amy pats my hand gently, giving me a soft smile. "I get it. But Noah isn’t like that. Don’t doubt what you have, Bee. You’re more than enough."
Chapter Nineteen
Noah
I’m up early, packing two bags of clothes.
I’m not sure how Blossom will react, but I can’t help but be excited to surprise her.
Glancing at the clock, I notice she’s still asleep, her head buried in the pillows, her breathing steady.
I’m just finishing the last of my packing when I hear the rustle of sheets. I turn around to see Blossom stir, her eyes opening slowly as she blinks against the light.
“Morning,” I say with a smile, walking over to the bed.
She stretches, her eyes widening as she sees me holding the two bags. “What’s going on? What’s all this?” she asks, her voice still thick with sleep.
I chuckle, feeling that little thrill of excitement for the surprise I’ve got planned. “I’ve set up a little surprise for us. We’re going away for the weekend.”
Blossom’s eyes instantly light up. She pushes herself up in bed, practically bouncing with excitement. “Wait—are you serious? Where are we going?”
I grin. “It’s a surprise.”
She doesn’t even let me finish the sentence. “I’m so excited!” she exclaims, leaping out of bed and nearly throwing herself at me, wrapping her arms around me with the kind of enthusiasm I’ve only seen in a few rom-coms.
Her excitement is infectious, and for the first time in a long while, I feel like everything might actually be okay.
I smile at her as she pulls away from our hug. “You might want to pack for the cold,” I say, my voice laced with amusement as I toss her a jacket. “We’re headed to the Hamptons.”
Blossom’s jaw drops, her eyes wide with surprise. “The Hamptons?! That’s so nice!” she exclaims, practically squealing. I chuckle at her enthusiasm, her excitement infecting me in a way I hadn’t expected.
She’s already jumping up to pack her bags. She’s in her element now, a mix of organized chaos and sheer delight. I watch as she whips her bag together, pulling out clothes and adding them in a whirlwind motion.
“I’ve never been to the Hamptons before!” she says, her voice full of wonder. “I’ve heard about it, of course, but never thought I’d actually go.”
I walk over to her, placing a hand on her shoulder. “Well, today’s your lucky day.”
Blossom flashes me a smile, and I can see how excited she is about this. It’s not just the destination but the feeling of escaping everyday life. That’s why I’ve planned this weekend for both ofus, as a chance to just be together, with no strings attached, no pressure. We need a break.
I’m glad I could do this for her.
By the time we get to the airport, Blossom’s eyes are wide with disbelief as she looks at the sleek private jet parked on the tarmac. She’s staring at it like she’s never seen anything like it before, and to be honest, maybe she hasn’t.
She stumbles a little as we make our way toward the jet, her steps faltering with each glance she throws at the aircraft. I can’t help but smile at her shock.
“You have aprivate jet?” she asks, her voice filled with awe.
I nod, keeping things light. “Yeah. Comes in handy for quick trips like this.”
Her eyes follow me as I help her board the jet, her gaze lingering on the plush interior. As soon as she steps inside, she lets out an audible gasp. “This is insane,” she says, her hand trailing along the soft leather of the seats.
I take a seat beside her as the flight attendant offers us drinks, I accept a glass of champagne, and Blossom shyly asks about non-alcoholic options.
We settle in as the engines start up, and I flick on the in-flight movie, another rom-com, just for fun. Blossom laughs, her gaze flicking between the screen and me. We chat through the movie, sipping our drinks and laughing at the ridiculousness of the plot. It’s relaxing, exactly what I hoped for.
As we fly over the rocky coastlines of the Hamptons, I glance over at Blossom, seeing how at ease she’s starting to feel.
