A horn sounded in the distance and the hellspawn began to retreat, some of them covering their ears.
“What the fuck is going on?” Dean demanded.
“Dean, this is Levi. Levi, Dean,” I introduced them.
“That’s not what I meant.” His eyes narrowed on me.
“I’m Levi and these are my wolves. We heard you were in trouble and decided to lend a hand since we’ve been studying the hellspawn for the past six months. Where’s your coven leader?” His eyes took on a hard, steely look.
“We don’t know,” I said. “He hasn’t been seen since the fighting started.”
Levi raised one eyebrow but didn’t reply.
“You do realize that we are enemies?” Dean persisted.
“Look.” Levi sighed and turned to him. “Those things are killing my wolves and your vamps. It’s time we put our differences to one side and actually fought this new enemy together. Can you remember why we’re killing each other, because I have no fucking clue.”
Dean opened his mouth, closed it, and then looked up as if searching for the answer. “I have no idea. You’re meant to be vicious beasts who kill vampires.”
“I’ll take the vicious beast, but we didn’t kill any vamps tonight,” Levi retaliated.
Dean turned to me. “Do I want to know how you know him?”
“Probably not.”
“Okay, I’m going to get my injured people medical attention. I’ll deal with this later.” He moved his hand between Levi and me.
“Hey, I’m Radar!” The lycan waved. “Good to finally meet you, Tasha.”
A vague smile turned my lips up because I couldn’t take my eyes off Levi.
“I guess I’ll go and sort out our people then,” Radar said with a shrug and stomped off.
Levi grabbed my hand and trailed me off until we were away from the hustle and bustle of the entrance hallway. His forehead pressed into mine, his hands on my hips.
“I felt your panic and thought I wouldn’t make it in time,” he said against my lips.
“Your wolf was here.”
His brow furrowed as he studied me. I thought he was going to say something, but instead his full lips smashed into mine, his hand lifting my face so he could devour me.
My hands slid up the ridges of his chest muscles until they lodged themselves behind his neck, dragging his head impossibly closer, until I was surrounded by his essence. He’d done what I never thought he would. He had walked into my coven and claimed me. My heart beat so hard and fast I thought it was going to leap from my chest.
“I missed you,” he moaned into my mouth.
I didn’t care where the cameras were anymore. All I knew was that I needed his strength that was infusing into me and making me whole again.
When we finally broke apart, gasping for air, I studied him. His hair was longer, and his stubble had formed a beard, but his eyes were the same deep hazel with glowing amber centres.
“How did you find me?”
“I always knew where you were, Tasha. I just needed time to work on how we could be together.” His forehead pressed to mine again and I inhaled his fragrance.
“I’ve been so lost.”
“My wolf absorbed your emotions and pain. He couldn’t bear for you to suffer.”
The numbness made sense now, dissolving when his wolf finally came to my side.
