“Levi, I need your help.”

He leaned back, his tawny hazel eyes filled with questions.

I stared at the camera in the corner. “Not here.”

This castle had eyes and ears hiding everywhere and I didn’t know how much Radar could erase. Grabbing Levi’s hand, I led him from the room and followed the route I used through the castle to avoid cameras until we reached a recess close to the entrance to the caves where I tended to sit and watch the moon through a small, oval window in the wall.

“Do you remember that I told you about vampires with special gifts being claimed by Castus?”

His shoulders stiffening was the only outward sign of his emotions. “Yeah, I remember all our conversations that summer.”

“He took my sister a few years ago. A few days ago, he brought me to her.” The image of her sitting like a ghost in that room flittered through my mind and made me shiver. Levi’s fingers slid between mine to interconnect our hands. He squeezed, his power washing over me.

I dragged in a steadying breath. “There were other women there that he was using as his own personal breeding programme to create a special subspecies.”

Levi’s jaw tightened.

“Some of them are nothing more than shells with broken souls.”

“What do you need?”

I swallowed the lump that formed in my throat. His offer without question or query made me love him even more. “I have them hidden in the caves below the castle. The master hellspawn is drawn to whatever is in our blood.”

His hand grasped behind my neck in a show of possession, pulling me closer to him as he pressed a kiss to my forehead. “You’re mine. No psychotic vampires or demented hellspawn are going to get anywhere near you.”

There was something about the timber of his voice that made my stomach flip and my heart beat a little faster. “Levi, my mum’s down there as well. She was claimed by one of those creatures years ago.”

His body stiffened, but he just held me. “Do you trust me?”

What a question! I’d trusted this man with my life from the moment I jumped out of a tree and bit him. He’d held me as I waited to die. Instead of a reply, I rested my forehead on his chest.

“We have some safe houses that we’ve acquired over the years. I can take them to one that no one even knows exists. But that means that you can’t know either, Tasha. If those creatures have the power to get inside your head, then they’re all at risk.”

I would have walked over and handed myself to the master hellspawn only Levi’s hold on me was stronger. We both knew it.

“Keep my family safe.” There was no point arguing because I knew without a doubt Levi would keep his word to me. Tonight proved that.

He lifted his arm, and I heard the distinctive beep of a communication device.

“Radar, we need a helicopter ready to fly when it’s fully dark outside. Yeah, I’ll let you know the location when I see you.” Levi’s chest expanded and he dragged in a breath, turning his attention to me. “I guess it’s time I met your family.”

A grin appeared to show his dimples when I looked up at him. The short beard he’d grown suited him and gave him a dangerous edge. A flock of butterflies erupted in my stomach.

“I’ve never taken anyone to meet Mum and Kimber before.”

His smile grew and his arms circled my waist to tug me against him. “Are you making me official?”

A shy grin appeared on my face. “Maybe.”

His head lowered and every muscle in my body froze in anticipation. His lips were soft but firm, controlling mine as only Levi could. His tongue flicked along the seam of my lips to demand entry to my mouth. His hand elevated my face to move me to the perfect angle.

I gasped when his tongue delved into my mouth to dance with mine. My hands landed on his hips because the world started to tilt. Everything slowly disappeared around me until all that was left was the scent and sensation that currently surrounded me. The loneliness that had resided in my soul thawed under the heat of his affection.

His thumb caressed my bottom lip when he finally moved back.

“You haven’t been feeding,” he said, nicking his thumb on the tip of my fang.

“Nothing tastes like you,” I mumbled.
