The vampires were grouped together in a corridor and surrounded by lycans. Dean was trying to calm the situation, but his gaze darted between threats with panic deep in his eyes.
Levi’s brutal growl echoed down the hall, as he lifted the nearest vampire and lycan by the scruffs of their necks. He made them look weightless with their legs dangling off the floor.
“What the fuck is going on? Did I not make my orders clear?”
One of the lycans began to try and explain, his voice shaking and his gaze on the ground.
“I don’t give a fuck,” Levi snarled. “We need to work together, or we all die.”
He dropped them both on the floor. Powerful energy pulsed off him in waves, his canines fully on display. The gaze of every wolf fell to the floor in response.
I watched Levi through new eyes, seeing him as all the wolves here viewed him. His display of dominance made my knees tremble, as if they were trying to make me kneel at his feet. I had wondered how he’d managed to become alpha when he should have just been marking time in the military. Now I knew.
The lycan he tossed to the floor glared up at me, his eyes flashing amber. In a heartbeat Levi’s wolf emerged, trapping him to the floor, his teeth bared at his neck. I swallowed the uncomfortable lump in my throat. All the vampires were focused on those sharp teeth that could kill them with one bite. Right now, Levi was the most dangerous creature in this room. His alpha power radiated from him, his black wolf huge and vicious.
The male lycan finally displayed his neck in submission and Levi stepped back. He glared at everyone until the lycans silently walked away with their shoulders and gaze lowered. Dean ushered the vampires into their accommodation.
The master hellspawn had a creature attraction that beckoned me to him. Right now, Levi’s animal magnetism washed over me in waves that dragged me under his spell until I was drowning in those amber eyes.
His head bumped against me and my hands automatically found his fur. The man confused me, but I understood the wolf. He never left me in any doubt of his emotions. From the first day that he had shielded me, I’d felt safe and protected in his presence.
Even as we moved back toward his room, I felt the heated stares of lycans hiding in the corners. Our peace was one born of necessity instead of mutual respect. Two species that had hated each other for centuries were now trapped under one roof.
We would either come together to form an army to destroy the hellspawn, or we would end up killing each other before they arrived at our door.

Tasha
Three days had passed in a troubled peace on Levi’s base. There was less growling and hissing when our two species encountered each other, and now Levi and Dean had everyone training together in this massive training room with enough weapons hanging from the hall to destroy a local town.
Swords clashed in the training rooms and large furry beasts lunged through the air while tentative new alliances formed. Every warrior needed to be careful not to use their fangs or canines, which were our natural weapons, since our bite was poisonous to each other.
“What are you doing?” I asked lowly so no one but Levi would hear me. He stood sentinel still, his arms folded over his wide chest while he monitored everything that happened in the training room.
His gaze flicked to me before returning to the room. “Assessing my men.”
“Come on.” I grabbed his arm, hauling him towards the mats. “Show me what you’ve got.”
For three days, I’d been constantly on edge in his base, under surveillance from all of his pack. I needed to blow off some of this tension before my body combusted.
He studied me, his lips twitching in amusement as I positioned myself ready to fight him. He arched an eyebrow in silent question, his stance never changing as if daring me to attack.
I led with a roundhouse kick, followed by a swipe to take out his legs. He dodged my attack, catching my leg when I went for his balls. At least that got his attention since men always defended the vulnerable area between their legs.
He tutted and shook his head at me.
His T-shirt left nothing to my imagination, every muscular ridge on display. There were more than a couple of lycan females who stole glances at Levi with lust in their eyes. He dragged my leg toward him until our bodies connected with each other. Every neuron in my body screamed for his touch, every muscle tensed as he held me captive against him. The centre of his eyes glowed amber, making my stomach knot.
“Levi?” I stared up in puzzlement, trying to work out his reaction.
He was messing with my head, his scent driving me crazy.
He lifted me by the hips, setting me away from him. “I’m not fighting you, Tasha.”
“Why not?” I demanded, my hands landing on my hips in defiance.
He hadn’t touched me since we’d arrived. That one blistering hot kiss was all he’d given me. Frustration was driving me insane because I wanted him constantly, the flesh at the apex of my thighs burning with needy desire.
