“Let me make it very clear for you. Lucrezia Black is out of bounds. You touch her and I will fucking destroy you.”
He smirked. “So Dad was right.”
“Not even close,” I hissed in his face before my fist collided with it.
Michael had dabbled in martial arts, learning just enough to protect himself and no more since he had a protection officer watching his ass when he was outside Dad’s walls. My knee connected with his balls and I grabbed his hand, twisting until he screamed. The crack echoed in the room as I broke it. I did not give a single fuck anymore.
“Keep your hands to yourself, Michael.” I dropped him to the floor and kicked him just for good measure, and to let him know just how pissed I was. “Final warning. You touch her again and Jordan will be the pleasant option.”
He lay gasping in a pool of blood. I wanted to shoot him, but it would probably damage the furniture at such close range. He struggled to stand on his feet, but that just seemed to enrage me even further. I grabbed him by his shirt and kept punching until my hand throbbed and Michael was unconscious. I dropped him to the floor.
“Feel better?” Dad asked.
“Fuck off. You two have made me look like a fool in front of my friends. I told you that I had a business plan in place to bring diamonds into the country, but you and your evil minion over there decided you knew better than me. He attacked her earlier today and again tonight. Fuck!” I shouted and Dad’s eyes widened.
“What happened to my house?”
“What house?” I asked, looking around as if I expected to find the walls crumbling.
“There was a raid on my house where the assets were located. The house was blown up,” he said, watching my reaction.
“We were set to go in on Friday night,” I said. “There’s a meeting scheduled tomorrow night to go through the plans.”
He eyeballed me as he folded his arms across his chest. “Are you telling me that it wasn’t you in that house?”
I sighed. “Dad, check my fucking tracker info. I haven’t been near the place.”
“Then we have a problem.” All colour drained from his face.
Seeing an opportunity, I deliberately looked at Michael. “The type of problem that likes to spout his mouth off.” I met Dad’s furious gaze. “It wouldn’t be the first time, and I assume he had access to the house.”
Dad’s attention dropped to Michael. “He wouldn’t dare.”
“He has before. You need to send me all the details of what happened so I can do damage limitation.” I glared at him. “This needs to fucking end, Dad. I’m doing my best to keep this family together and you two are doing your best to destroy it.”
The side of his jaw ticked. “I’ll speak to my security people,” he said.
“Please tell me that you had trackers on the assets,” I replied. “That way we can trace them.”
“I checked, but they were black outside the house.”
“For fuck’s sake, Dad!” I snapped. “Did you not have a security detail in the house with them?”
He looked away.
“Did any of them see your face?” I demanded, when he refused to meet my eyes, I cursed again. “How could you be so fucking stupid!”
That got his attention.
“If you want me to protect you, then you need to fucking trust me. There is only one mole in this family who has proved they care only about themselves, and that isn’t me.” I strode toward the door, and spun around to glare at him. “Keep your fucking hands off Lucrezia Black before I cut them off. I will not have anyone meddling in my fucking business. Understand?”
He nodded slowly.
“Good. Clean that fucking mess up.” I nodded to Michael and left the house, slamming the door behind me.
The air was cool outside and I needed it to help calm my temper. The jog back home dissipated my anger a little, but not anywhere near enough. I had an apartment at Xavier’s building with clothes in it, so I only needed to pack bits and pieces. The only problem was that I didn’t want to go after my encounter with Lucrezia.
In the mood I was in right now, I was likely to drag her off into my room and tie her to the bed. My arm and fist ached as I tightened my grip on the handlebars of my Harley. The open road called to me, my demons left behind by the speed of my bike. After Xavier’s wedding, I needed to get away for a few days and just clear my head.
