Chapter Four

Megan

It hadn’t taken me long to realise that even though I loved my apartment and it was mine, it wasn’t a home. This house with the piano and the shelves of books and a little reading nook had become my home. Simon the squirrel waited for his breakfast every morning, tapping the window with his tiny paws and sometimes running into the kitchen when I left the door open.

“I don’t want to leave,” I said, folding a top and putting it into my overnight bag. We were still in Xavier’s house, but heading back to London to pack up our stuff and move to one of Jordan’s other properties. “He could have seen us together at the apartment, or my work, or in court. There is no indication that anyone knows about our home.”

“You just want to keep feeding that squirrel until he is big and fat. Then he’ll break the window box with his nut collection.” He rolled his eyes at me before returning to his vigil at the window.

I moved across the room and wrapped my arms around his waist to stare up at him. “That house is our home, Jordan. I feel safe there.”

He tucked my hair behind my ear in a familiar gesture that made my heart beat faster. “It’ll only be for a few weeks until I know the risk has passed.”

He’d told me what happened in Cuba, and finally admitted to the phone call to Cassandra’s uncle after I overheard him chatting to the guys in the kitchen. His grandfather was on the mend and complaining about his leg in cast and the fact that he was under bed rest. Ivan was still in the high dependency unit, but he was off the critical list and his chances increased every day that he struggled to stay with us.

I sighed and pressed my forehead into his chest.

“From what I understand, the risk only goes away if we break up,” I whispered. “If we want to make this work, then we need to put on a united front and show the world that we’re a couple no matter who tries to threaten us.”

His fingers traced up and down my back, leaving electrical impulses in their wake. “Life isn’t as simple as that.”

I tilted back to stare up at him. “Or maybe it is, Jordan. When we give in to the bullies, it makes them worse.” My fingers dug into the bottom of his back. “Please, I love that house.”

A faint smile touched his lips. “You’re going to be the death of both of us. I’m trying to keep you safe, and you want to risk our lives for that nefarious rodent.”

“Simon is family.”

“Uh-huh.” He gave me that sexy-ass squint that did silly things like loosen my panty elastic. “He’s like the annoying cousin at Christmas dinner that no one wants because he eats too many sprouts and has a wind problem later.”

I giggled at his pained expression because I knew deep down inside he loved his nemesis no matter what he said. I returned to packing my hair straighteners and make-up kit that I took everywhere with me.

“Oh dear, looks like there was a severe accident when I was in Cuba. Is Bob going to survive?”

I stilled at his words and spun around. I forgot that I had left my vibrator on charge on the bedside unit. Jordan eyed the plastic device disdainfully. Even during my training in the Twilight Rooms, he rarely used the vibrators unless we were covering anal play in the curriculum. In fairness, he knew how to use his cock, so he didn’t need the help from a vibrating sex aid.

“Survive?” I echoed.

His finger touched the charging cable. “He’s on life support. Did you push him until he collapsed with exhaustion?” His eyes came up to meet mine. “You do have a very high sex drive and the little guy is only plastic. Poor Bob.”

I pushed his chest and he grinned, his eyebrows lifting suggestively. I pointed my finger at him. “This is your fault. Bob wouldn’t be in this state if you took your role as my boyfriend seriously. I remember a time when Bob was redundant in my drawer.”

Jordan’s hands rested on my hips to tug me toward him. “Are you complaining about my prowess in the bedroom?” His voice contained that husky tone that made my pulse race.

“Nope. I’m just saying that my pussy has been missing your cock.”

His lips twitched. “This sounds like the start of a farm adventure.”

My fingers traced up his back to find their place at the nape of his neck. “Once upon a time there was a lonely pussy in need of some friendship. One day, when she visited the farmyard, she met a cock who guarded all the other animals. When he saw her, he stood to attention, his stance hard and erect…”

Jordan burst out laughing, his arms ensnaring me to haul me against him. “You’re crazy, do you know that? What the fuck am I supposed to do with you?”

“You could start by making poor Bob redundant since he needs some well-deserved rest.” I stared up at him solemnly. “He was trying his best.”

Jordan lifted me off my feet and swung me around. I squealed in delight because this version of Jordan belonged only to me. Outside this room he was uptight and aggressive. Behind our bedroom door, he was warm and full of affection.

“It’s okay, Bob. I think I can take it from here.” He tossed me onto the bed and crawled between my legs. “Using my dick is my contribution to lower energy costs. Constantly charging that thing will cost me a fortune.”

My legs widened to accommodate him before wrapping around his lean waist. “I guess if it’s for the good of the planet, I’ll put him aside and let you take over.”
