I put my hand up as if swearing onto a jury. “I promise to make sure I’m naked and ready for you to fuck me on your return.”
Jordan laughed and shook his head. “Yeah, I’m going to hold you to that! I’ll speak to you later.”
“Stay safe, Jordan.”
He kissed the screen and I couldn’t help but smile and return the gesture. He was my entire world and held my heart with him everywhere he travelled. One thing I knew for sure, if anything happened to him I would never survive.

Chapter Fourteen
Jordan
South Africa was a welcome release in the chaos of my world. Catarina was missing and that little shit Zach knew something but was giving us the run-around. No body, no death was the rule in my world, and my gut told me that Catarina and Alexandro were out there alive and well. Lucas was on his way to Cuba to sort the mess out because I needed to visit these diamond mines in South Africa.
Megan sat with her face up to the sun and a huge pair of sunglasses on. Her blonde curly hair cascaded around her face and across her shoulders. The weight of the past few months had melted from her shoulders and she once again reminded me of the girl I met in the Twilight Rooms.
“You’re staring,” Megan accused, her lips tilting up in a smile that made my heart beat faster.
“Then stop looking so tempting,” I replied, taking a sip from my drink.
Our new identities were honeymooners on an adventure. A shiny platinum ring adorned Megan’s left ring finger, the engagement ring to match it underneath. She’d eyed it suspiciously when I was taking us to the airport in one of our unmarked cars. I knew she wanted the faerytale ending that Cassandra and Lucrezia had, but I’d made a vow never to marry.
I sighed.
I had also vowed never to fall in love and look how well that ended.
“What’s the sigh for?” Megan pulled her sunglasses down her nose to peer at me.
“You.” I shot her one of my grumpiest looks and her smile widened. “Stop smiling at me. That is how you distract me and then I never get any work done.”
Megan nudged me with her toe. “We’re on honeymoon. Officially, all we need to do is bonk like bunny rabbits.”
“If we have any more sex, I’ll die of dehydration.”
Megan laughed before she crawled onto my lap, her nose touching mine. “Need me to get you another glass of water?”
I pouted. “You’re objectifying me.”
Her ass wiggled against my dick and she wrapped her arms around my neck. “Hmmm. You better believe it. As your wife, I’m entitled to fifty percent, and I claim your cock as part of that bounty. You can keep your stately home and inheritance.”
“As a member of the legal profession, it is my duty to tell you that you’re devaluing yourself. My dick is worth substantially less than my inheritance.”
“That is a matter of opinion. I doubt your bank account can make me scream in ecstasy.”
She was crazy. I didn’t give a single fuck about my inheritance or the family home. I never had. Vengeance had been my motivator, and now something that I had never anticipated had happened. My plans to topple the Council were finally coming to fruition and I added the complication of love into my life. This was the part when I should have been cold and devoid of emotion. Instead, I had moved Megan into my home and life. I had something to want to live for, and she was currently grinding her ass into my dick and he was definitely taking notice.
“My bank account could buy you a shoe collection that would make Catarina weak at the knees.” I sucked her bottom lip into my mouth and bit down. “It could buy you a million cushions with diamonds on them.”
She pushed herself up until she was peering down at me. “Can it buy me a home and happiness? Because that’s all I’ve ever wanted.”
I lifted her hair and set it over her right shoulder. “It could buy you safety away from the assholes hunting me.”
She slowly shook her head. “Not without you. Never without you.”
And that was why I could never walk away from her ever again. We were created from the same misery in our childhoods. Each of us had only ever wanted to find a family and love.
I touched the rings on her finger. “And if these can never be real?”
