“She’s pregnant. When the nurse went through her medical history, her mum announced she’s three months pregnant.”

Jordan’s eyebrows shot up. “Shit, it took me longer than normal to gauge what was going on. I must be losing my touch.”

I slapped his arm. “Concentrate!”

He glared at me. “Stop touching me. I fucking hate people touching me. We can do nothing for Charlotte right now. Neither can we do anything about the baby situation. What we can do is track down those assholes who decided they were permitted to wander over to our territory and take a shit on the lawn.”

“I’m going to be a father,” I pointed out, still trying to get my head around that fact.

“Not today, you’re not, so we’re going to stack that in ourproblems for another daylist.” Jordan folded his arms across his chest and stared at me. “What we can deal with is the vermin issue.”

A toilet flushed, and Declan wandered out. In my emotional state, I hadn’t even checked to see if the cubicles were unoccupied.

“What information do we have and where do we need to hit?” he asked, as if he hadn’t just heard the entire conversation about me and Charlotte.

“I cloned Craig’s phone,” I said, filling them both in on my reading last night. “Him and Dale have a huge gambling problem and are up to their armpits in debt. Whoever holds their debt wants access to Charlotte’s designs. There is something on her laptop or hard drive that they want to pay the debt. From what I understand, Dale and Craig were the ones who stole her designs previously and blamed her. It meant the only person who would give her a job was James.”

“Fucker,” Declan sneered. “I never liked either of them. Do we know who holds the debt?”

“Craig doesn’t seem to be party to that information, Dale has been the one negotiating.” I sighed and leaned against the wall.

Declan pulled his phone out and started to type. “We’ll bring Dale and Craig in. I imagine one of them will sing with a little persuasion.”

“I needed a new pair of boots anyway,” Jordan replied. “I’ll get Ash to track their financial history.” He started typing on his phone.

“Congratulations, by the way. I win the sweepstake.” Declan continued to type as he spoke.

“What sweepstake?” I asked in confusion, my brow creasing.

“The chemistry from you two was off the charts. My prediction was for around three months ago, Josh went for after that along with the rest.” He flashed a smug smile. “Josh is going to be pissed I won.”

Jordan chuckled from beside me and I fought my urge to strangle both of them.

“Ash is pulling both of them up now,” Jordan said.

“Our guys are bringing these two nitwits in,” Declan replied. “We’ll need to head to our containment unit as soon as they’re found.”

I nodded. “I need to check with the doctor,” I responded, and the darkness threatened to overwhelm me again.

“The women who chose to love men like us are stronger than any of us ever imagine,” Jordan said. “I thought Megan was too soft and innocent for our world, yet she walks that path like a warrior princess. Charlotte is the same.”

I nodded, remembering her smiling up at me with oil on her face like war paint.

About an hour later, the doctor Jordan and his friends had on constant retainer emerged. “She’s stable, but it was touch and go for a while.” He sighed. “You can’t keep doing this and expecting me to save everyone. We nearly lost Lucrezia and now this.”

“The car crash wasn’t our fault,” Jordan deflected. “We’re helping a friend who’s found herself in some trouble because of her family.”

The doctor narrowed his eyes at Jordan. “If you say so.”

Victoria asked the question that burned on my tongue but wouldn’t emerge. “And my grandchild?”

“Foetal heartrate still strong at the moment. We’re keeping a close eye on the situation.”

Megan screamed and hugged me again. “You’re going to be a daddy,” she cooed.

“Does everyone know about us?” I deadpanned.

“Of course!” Megan exclaimed. “I knew it the first time I saw the two of you together. I said to Jordan, even though he denied it. The two of you were hot with a capital H.O.T.”
