Maia:Holy shit! Someone is taking their life in their hands. Checking for safe houses in the area.
Over the years, the ancient creatures in the Chimaera Foundation had bought properties around the globe to ensure we could get our people to safety no matter where we were in the world. They were listed in a database that only a few people hadaccess to, and the details of passcodes and keys were retained secretly as well. Everyone who joined our guild agreed to the terms, and it had allowed us to protect all types of magical and night creatures from harm.
There were wolves and vampires who had joined along the way, each adding a layer of understanding and their own brand of mysticism that hid us from the watchful eyes of the elders who were little better than Balor in their quest for supremacy. The only difference was that they had positioned themselves as the magical authority a long time ago and decimated any rebellions or challenges to their hierarchy of power. Rarely anything went past the watching eyes of their seers. It was why our amulets contained specified runes to prevent them from watching us, and the senior members of our guild had tattoos on our bodies shielding us.
My phone pinged again, breaking me from my thoughts.
Maia:Sending coordinates to your private account. All details for entry retrieved and added to your profile.
Nothing ever came directly to us. In this modern age of technology, everything was hidden behind firewalls and passwords.
Me:Thank you. I have a bad feeling about this. Can you mobilise operatives to this region?
Mother priestess had told me to follow my instincts, and that was what I had done all these years. They had never once been wrong, and my survival was the result of being cautious and acting on my visions and instincts.
Maia:I’ve had people on standby since that couple was killed. I’ll send them to safe houses. Their details will be in your account.
I tapped my finger on the side of my phone. There were few people I trusted in this world, but one man was uniqueamong his race, a relic of a bygone era when the templar knights guarded the magical creatures of this world.
Me:Could you contact Dominic and update him on the situation?
He hated the elders and everything they stood for, but more than that, Dominic was a vampire who possessed unique magic that meant he couldn’t be manipulated and controlled. He could neutralise spells and enchantments around him, and a few other gifts I had never gotten to the bottom of since he tended to be an enigma.
Maia:Wow. It must be bad if you’re contacting Dominic.
Me:Honestly, I don’t know what’s going on here, just that I need our strongest people here for the storm that’s brewing.
Salvator shot me a worried look from the driver’s seat as if he could sense my emotions. As much as I tried to deny it, our connection grew every single day. I was aware of him sitting beside me, every rise and fall of his chest. At night, I could feel his pulse throbbing beside me, calling me to him in a seductive whisper. He insisted I slept beside him in case of an attack, and although I had had the willpower to resist him when he was spellbound, that no longer existed and I craved him with every nerve in my body.
I clamped my thighs together and stared out the window as my mind wandered to the erotic dreams that awaited me every time I fell asleep. Every morning, I could still feel his touch on my skin, and if I pursed my lips together, I swear I could taste him from the kisses we shared in my dreams. Yet, Salvator lay there as if he had slept peacefully, blissfully unaware of me sleeping beside him in the bed.
“You okay?” Salvator asked, and I blinked several times to try and clear the image of his naked body from my head.
“Yep.” My voice emerged as a squeak, and my hands clasped together on my lap.
“You seem distracted,” he continued. “Are you still upset that I locked the wolf in the boot?”
He was sleeping since it would take his mind several days to clear properly. I didn’t care where he put the wolf while he slept off the effects of magic. Right now, I was trying to calm down my hormones after he had gone all alpha wolf at the side of the road, including his glowing eyes and canines on display. Those teeth deserved to be embedded in my shoulder, the way he had tempted me so often in the past.
“Luna?” The car swerved and I felt Salvator’s gaze boring into me.
“Hmmm?” I turned to face him, and saw the glowing amber that made my pulse leap in my veins.
“What the fuck is going on?” he demanded. “Because right now I can’t concentrate from whatever you are doing.”
“Me? I’m sitting here watching the scenery!” I exclaimed. In fairness, the only scenery I had been interested in had been the scenery of his body, every toned muscle and firm inch of flesh.
A pulse pounded between my legs, a need building low in my stomach. His deep, spicy male scent intoxicated me, surrounding me in a tempting aroma which whispered to my sensuality, and made me want to crawl across the car to touch him.
Salvator shot me another incredulous look, before returning his attention to the road. “Fuck my life,” he muttered. “I swear I’m going to have blue balls at the end of this journey.”
I pretended not to hear him. Women didn’t have balls, but right now it felt like my pussy lips were trying to eat my panties like Cookie Monster trying to eat his way toward a double chocolate chip treat.
“Maia has sent me the details of a safe house,” I said, staring out the window without taking anything in. “We could leave the wolf at your house for someone else to question, and move location.”
His fingers drummed on the steering wheel. “What about my men?” he asked.
“Maia has teams on their way here. We’ll pick them up one by one using a message from your phone. I don’t want to risk whoever is manipulating people to see you since you’re off their radar,” I replied.
