I straightened and met Liam’s disapproving glare. “Ready?” I asked in a saccharine sweet voice.

“Oh. I’m ready, all right.” Liam’s tone was filled with sexual promise, his stare feral and bordering on terrifying in its intensity.

“Great.” I gave a wide, innocent smile as I bent over again to lift my bag from its position beside his desk. When I stood up, Liam was chewing the side of his lip, his eyes fixed on my ass.

“Eyes up here, buddy,” I chided him.

His gaze cut to mine.

“Temptress,” he accused with a tight smile.

“Only for you.” I deliberately brushed against him on the way to the door.

“Minx,” Liam mumbled, grabbing my hand to haul me out into the office. “I’ll not be back the rest of the day.” He announced as we walked past his receptionist.

She glared at me, her cheeks red and face set in a stern frown. My guess was that she overheard everything.

Liam’s fingers tightened around mine. Michael waved at us on our way to the elevator. He grinned broadly, his eyebrows bouncing. I leaned into Liam’s side.

“Back to work, Michael,” he snapped.

Michael attempted to look contrite, but his grin won out. He winked at me, dragging a pile of paperwork to him. Asshole.

Everything I owned was basic because my life didn’t require anything fancy. The fancy underwear Liam had seen last night and today was all I possessed. I was moving into big cotton panties after these. In fairness, I wouldn’t even know where to go to buy a suitable dress for one of Mum’s parties.

He strode into the shop as if he owned it, telling the assistant exactly what he wanted. He dropped a kiss on my parted lips before sitting on a sofa to type on his phone.

I followed the woman, throwing a confused glare over my shoulder at him.

“Sorry,” I gushed, catching up with her.

“No worries. Mr. Doherty has an account here in our menswear. Sometimes it helps to know what you’re looking for.”

“I have no idea what would suit me,” I confessed.

“Then leave it to me. Do you need anything else? This is our evening wear section, but I can phone my colleagues in other departments.”

My brow wrinkled. “I’m home with nothing more than a suitcase. I need a few nice outfits for daytime use, and I need…” My voice trailed off.

Her eyebrows rose in encouragement.

“Underwear. I work in a hospital in scrubs, and let’s be honest, cotton panties are comfortable. I need something seductive.”

A knowing smile crossed her lips. “Leave it to me. Take a seat and I’ll be back shortly.”

Several minutes later, another two women appeared with fabric over their arms. One laid out jeans, skirts, and tops. The other had an armful of silk and lace.

“Cassidy is good at estimating sizes,” the lingerie woman explained. “Changing room is behind you, shout if you need anything.”

Holy moly. Surely, I didn’t need all of these?

The lingerie was sexy, fitting me to perfection. I found myself tracing my hands over the soft texture, wishing it was Liam in here with me. The deep purple bodysuit set off the colour in my eyes, areas of lace covering my modesty while the rest was nothing more than gossamer material that was transparent.

“Cassidy said you needed help choosing…” Liam stopped dead, his face an impassive mask. His gaze travelled from my toes to the top of my head before meeting my eyes in the mirror. His jaw tightened, hands finding my waist, and head on my shoulder.

“Do you like it?” I whispered.

“Hmmm. Do I get to unwrap you later?”
