“I know,” I nodded, hanging my head.

“You should go home and rest. How long have you been here anyway?”

She sounded completely normal after all she had been through.

I tried to think – it was early Tuesday afternoon, so she had been there for more than 24 hours, and so had I.

“Over 24 hours,” I answered quietly.

Emily’s eyes popped open. “Go home, Han. I’ll be fine. I’ll have Adam update you on what’s going on,” she instructed.

I gave it some thought.I could use some real sleep.

“I’ll just go take a nap and I’ll be right back,” I assured her.

Emily nodded as she smiled.

“I guess I should go track Michael down,” I sighed, already dreading whatever argument we were going to have.

“K. I love you,” she reached out for me.

I gave her a long, tight hug and took in the moment, grateful that she was still alive and sort of well.

I texted Adam as soon I left the room: “Heading home for a bit. Emily is awake. How’s Jack?” I turned and walked into the waiting room and Michael was sipping on a cup of coffee as he looked down at his phone. He noticed me right away and shifted his weight.

“I’m going home,” I said as I walked past him into the elevators.

He immediately followed me and took my hand as we waited in the elevator, Michael pressing the down button.

“Is she alright?” he asked; I could see him staring at me from the corner of my eye.

“Yeah,” I nodded, looking up at him with my heavy eyes.

My phone pinged – it was a text message. I knew it would be Adam and I didn’t want to check it in front of Michael. I looked down and Michael still stared at me, obviously annoyed and knowing I was avoiding my phone.

“Check your phone, Hana,” he ordered.

I sighed and rolled my eyes as I pulled out my phone from my pocket and just handed it to him –why try to hide anything anymore?Michael took my phone and read the message, quietly to himself.

“Jack is fine. Adam is back with Emily now,” he said sharply, handing my phone back to me.

I nodded, looking ahead.

“You’ve rolled your eyes at me three times in the past 24 hours, Hana. Did you know that?”

My breathing sped up. Even after this disastrous past day, the certain tone of his voice could still turn me on, and my imagination grew wild.

“I wasn’t aware of that,” I shook the hair that fell in front of my face.

“Excuse me?” Michael turned to me, hovering over me.

“I-I wasn’t aware, sir. I’m sorry,” I said, slowly looking up at him.

Michael just licked his bottom lip and nodded, turning to stand beside me once again. The elevator doors pinged open and Michael guided me out of the hospital and into a cab. Ten minutes later, Michael and I were walking into the apartment, my body and mind literally exhausted –if Michael wants to punish me now, I don’t think I could handle it.

“Take your clothes off, Hana,” Michael ordered me as he quickly walked into the bathroom.

I sighed but stripped down right there in the living room; soon, I could hear the water running in the tub but I waited right where I stood for my next command. A minute later, Michael poked his head out of the bathroom and eyed me up and down.
