Michael shook his head at me. “I wish you didn’t know the price. That was just the down payment,” he explained, almost shyly. “And yes, it was the original surprise.”
I stared back down at my ring that fit perfectly underneath my sub ring;wait…why give me the sub ring if he was just going to propose days later?
“So…did you know you were going to propose when you gave me my other ring?” I kept prodding.
“Yes,” Michael nodded, putting his arm around me. “I realized it wasn’t enough. I’ve given rings to all of my submissives. But you’re not just my submissive…you’re my soul mate, the love of my life, and I needed you to know that…I need the world to know that,” he went on, kissing the top of my knuckles gently.
Seriously, could this man get any more perfect?!
“Who would have thought? Michael Barnes proposing tome, Hana Miller,” I raised my eyebrows, shaking my head to myself.
Michael just smiled and put his hand to my cheek. “The future Mrs. Hana Barnes,” he noted, gazing at me lovingly.
Suddenly, there were quick knocks on the front door – my parents finally had arrived. I looked from the door to Michael, his eyebrows raised with amusement; he could tell how nervous I was.
He took my hand. “You ready?”
I just nodded, nervously putting my hand to my hair.
Michael and I stood up and walked to the door, quickly opening it to greet my parents. My mother was wearing one of her classic winter coats, looking super classy, and my dad had on his usual jeans, bomber jacket and cowboy hat.
“Mom, dad,” I smiled, opening my arms to greet them immediately.
“Hana banana,” my mom hugged me tightly.
I heard my dad and Michael greeting each other with a hello and handshake. I looked to my dad and he smiled at me widely; I hurriedly wrapped my arms around him and he did the same, lifting me up a little bit.
“Missed you, bug,” my dad said endearingly, letting me go.
“I missed you too, daddy,” I tilted my head to him.
“This place is great! What a lovely neighborhood as well, isn’t it Dan?” my mom said as she walked in, making herself comfortable already.
I looked to my dad and he just nodded as he observed, hands in his pockets. I turned to Michael who had his arms crossed as he watched me with a smile – he was waiting for me to bring up the important news.
“Would you two like anything to drink?” Michael asked, heading towards the kitchen.
“I’ll take some coffee, Michael. Thanks,” my dad said, sitting on the couch.
“I’m fine, sweetheart, thank you,” my mom responded as she sat down next to my dad.
I sighed nervously as I watched Michael go into the kitchen and then sat on the couch, facing both of my parents.
I put my hands together in front of me.“How’s Emily?”
My parents looked at each other and shrugged, then turned back to me.
“She seemed like the same ol’ Emily to us. I don’t understand why she did such a thing,” my mom sighed with a frown.
“Yeah,” I sighed, looking down at my hands. “She’ll get help. She’ll be alright,” I assured them.
My dad leaned in forward as if he were about to whisper something secret to me.
“Now, Han…are you living here with Michael?” he asked quietly.
I laughed nervously and by this time Michael was bringing my dad his coffee. I waited until Michael sat down next to me to answer.
“Um, well…daddy, mom,” I smiled, looking from them Michael. “Michael has asked me to marry him,” I announced with a grin, turning to them for a reaction.
