“Take care, Hana,” he said after a beat and quickly stood up, walking away into the park.
I sighed.I feel terrible. Why do I feel so terrible? He looked so heartbroken.I stood up and started to walk back to work but I gasped when I saw Michael leaning against a tree, hands in pockets, watching me.Shit.
“Was that Jack?” he asked, his eyes angry and…very jealous.
I nodded. “I only saw him to tell him that I was with you now,” I explained, slowly walking towards him.
“You couldn’t have called or sent him a text message? You justhadto see him in person?” he asked with raised eyebrows.
I crossed my arms and stood in front of him.
“And you justhadto follow me here like a stalker?” I asked, feeling feisty and a little annoyed;really…who follows someone like that?
Michael glared at me, crossing his arms now as well. “You justhadto sneak out without telling me to see someone who is clearly crazy about you?” he argued.
Oh my god…this could go on forever.
“Fine. I surrender,” I put my hands up mockingly.
Michael seemed to lighten up. “I need to be able to trust you, Hana,” he said softly.
I shook my head. “Youcantrust me. I wouldn’t dare do anything you’d disapprove of, sir,” I raised my eyebrows playfully.
He smiled. Aha!I always felt a sense of accomplishment when I made him smile.
“Good,” he put his hands to my hips.
I put my hands to his chest as Michael leaned down a little, his face close to mine, our lips almost touching. He lingered for a moment as I waited for him to kiss me.
“Now back to work,” he whispered as he let go of me and turned to walk back to the office.
Ugh…such a tease. He’s really gonna punish me for this one, isn’t he?
Feeling turned on and defeated, I sighed as I followed him back to work.
Work continued as usual. I didn’t see Michael at all until 10 minutes to 6 PM when he suddenly appeared next to my cubicle.
“Hana,” he said, startling both me and Cassie.
I turned around and Michael smiled at Cassie and then turned to me.
“I need to speak to you in my office,” he said then turned around quickly.
I glanced over at Cassie and she gave me a perplexed smile.
“What is he always having to talk to you about?” she asked curiously.
I really, really wish I could tell her.
“Just…about the year-end reviews I’m working on. He’s really picky,” I lied as I raised my eyebrows and quickly stood up to walk to his office.
I knocked before I walked in. Michael sat at his desk and stared at his Macbook screen, not even acknowledging me.
“You wanted to see me, sir?” I asked, sitting down in front of his desk.
“Yes,” he finally looked up at me. “I’d like to discuss our dos and don’ts,” he said, looking back down at his screen.
“Our…sexualdos and don’ts?” I asked for clarification.
