I decided to test my absurd theory. “Well, he asked me out to dinner, so you may be right,” I said, trying to act nonchalant about it.
Michael suddenly tensed up, clenching his jaw a little bit, glaring at me.
“And what did you say?” he raised an eyebrow, his voice low.
My heart started to race.Oh no…heisjealous, isn’t he? What if I screwed this thing up? What if he doesn’t want me at all anymore?
“I said yes,” I answered, holding my head up high.
Michael stared at me, as if he were thinking about what to do with me.
“I have a problem with this, Hana,” he said, starting to make his way towards me.
Oh god.My breathing sped up.
“You do?” I asked naively, biting my lip.
“Yes,” he answered, now right in front of me, backing me against the wall and putting one hand up to it beside my head.
I stared at his lips, wanting to kiss him so very badly.
“You’re going to be with me this weekend. So cancel your plans with Evan,” he stated, staring between my eyes and lips.
I nodded, biting my lip even harder.
“Are we clear?” he asked, fully aware that he had me right where he wanted me.
“Yes,” I nodded.Wait!“Yes, sir,” I corrected myself.
He smiled smugly at me, then planted a soft kiss on my lips.
“Good girl. Now back to work. And no more smoking either,” he ordered as backed away from me and turned to walk back to his desk.
I nodded, fully turned on, and walked out of his office, closing the door behind me. I sighed and composed myself as I walked back to my cubicle, all of my coworker’s eyes on me. They probably thought I just got scolded – well, I sort of did, but in a good way. Who would have ever thought that I could get so turned on by dominance?
I was distracted the rest of the day, daydreaming about Michael, about what he possibly wanted to do with me over the weekend. It would be the first time I would see him outside of work and I was thoroughly excited about it.
6 PM rolled around and I was a little disappointed that Michael didn’t ask me to work late again. I didn’t even get to see him before I left; I usually didn’t, but as the minutes passed I grew more and more infatuated with him.
I walked into an empty apartment 30 minutes later. Billie texted me that she and John were meeting up with some of her friends later and to join them at a bar close to our apartment. I texted her back letting her know that I might show up. I wandered around the apartment, trying to keep myself busy by listening to music and painting, but by 9 I was going crazy from restlessness. I texted Billie and told her I’d be there soon.
Obviously I wasn’t supposed to be drinking, but I never learned. I walked the few blocks to the bar, ready to let loose a little and have fun. I walked in, the place always crowded by nightfall, and looked around for a familiar face; I spotted Billie laughing with John and a few others at a booth in the corner.
“Hana! You made it!” Billie stood up excitedly as I made way towards her.
She wrapped her arms around me snugly and then turned to introduce me to everyone.
“Everyone, this is my beautiful best friend, Hana. Hana, this is Maggie, Jason, and Jack,” she pointed to everyone.
I smiled and made eye contact with the last one, Jack. He smiled up at me, a dimpled crooked smile that made my cheeks feel hot.Oh man, he’s cute.
“I’m gonna get a drink,” I said into Billie’s ear and she tilted her head at me, a look of disapproval but knowing there wasn’t anything she could do that would stop me.
I ordered a vodka tonic and made my way back to the group, sitting next to Billie and across from the cute one, Jack.
“So, no late night working with Mr. Boss Man?” Billie winked at me, smiling widely.
“No, unfortunately not,” I smiled back. “But he kind of got mad when Evan asked me out. I told Michael and he was all super jealous, and told me to cancel so I could hang out with him instead,” I explained, widening my eyes a little.
