“Where’s Jack?” John asked, still placed next to Billie and sipping on a drink.
Adam made a drinking motion with his free hand. “Liquid courage,” he answered, then looked at me.
“Hi,” he smiled, revealing adorable dimples, and walked towards me. “I’m Adam,” he held out his hand.
He was obviously flirting with me.
“Hana,” I smiled back, shaking his hand.
He held onto my hand longer than I expected.
“It’s a pleasure, Hana. I didn’t know we were having models backstage tonight, guys,” he looked to everyone else and then back at me.
Ha, charming. He held onto my hand, still shaking it, when Jack walked in.
“Jacky!” everyone cheered, raising their drinks.
Jack smiled shyly as he clutched onto his beer and immediately made eye contact with me. Adam quickly let go of my hand and sat next to me.
“A friend of John and Billie’s?” he questioned, scooting onto the couch close to me.
I nodded. “And Jack’s,” I raised my eyebrows towards Jack.
“Ohhhh,” he nodded, looking at Jack and then back at me. “Well, you’re a friend of mine now too. What are you drinking, I’ll get you another,” he asked, looking down at my near-empty drink.
“Oh,” I shook my head. “I’m fine. Thank you, though,” I said politely.
“This guy bothering you?” Jack interjected playfully as he approached us.
I laughed nervously and shook my head.
“I’m just making small talk with this beautiful lady,” Adam quickly responded, smiling smugly at Jack.
“Adam, dude. You need to tune this guitar,” John interrupted from across the room.
Adam looked at me and smiled, then stood up and patted Jack on the back before making his way across the room to pick up his guitar.
“Hi,” Jack smiled, then took the seat next to me.
“Hi,” I smiled back shyly; I was still too sober to successfully flirt.
“Fancy seeing you here,” he raised his eyebrows, his dimpled cheeks smiling at me.
I widened my eyes. “I know. I was invited by Billie. She said you were asking all sorts of questions about me last night,” I teased, giving him a crooked smile.
Oh, good…I guess I’m not too sober to flirt.
“Did she?” he laughed shyly, shaking his head. “Yeah, I guess I was,” he shrugged modestly.
“You could have just asked me firsthand,” I continued as I started twirl my hair.
He continued to eye me shyly. “I guess I could have. But in case you haven’t noticed, I’m terribly shy and awkward,” he joked.
I shrugged. “I think you’re doing alright,” I raised an eyebrow flirtatiously.
He exhaled. “Good. Because I’m trying my very hardest to appear calm and collected,” he jested.
I laughed and started to feel immediately relieved.
