“At once Alpha Heir Bronze, and with pleasure. With your permission, may I divulge why he is going there?”

Flint speaks before I get a chance. “Consider that a direct order from the council, and warrior? Let’s not be too gentle with any handling involved, eh?”

My warrior steps on Lincoln’s hand as he grabs him by the collar and begins to drag him out. There are a series of ‘Oops’ comments as Lincoln bumps into furniture on his way out.

“Send Miles in, on your way out, please.” I look at Flint and wiggle my eyebrows at him, making him smile in anticipation of another encounter.

Miles enters, and I direct him to stand before the desk. I feel contempt for this so-called warrior that won’t step up and help raise his pup.

“Did you recognize that shifter that was dragged out of this office?”

“No, Alpha Heir, I did not.”

“That is Alpha Heir Bronze to you, is that understood?”

“Yes.”

“Yes, what?” I am going to lose my temper with this one in very short order, and I can see the surprise on Flint’s face at his disrespect.

“Yes, I understand.” He keeps looking over my left shoulder as though he is on some parade ground.

“Are you deliberately trying my patience or just as stupid as the body that was dragged out of here?” I stand and lean forward, my knuckles taking my weight on my desk.

“My apologies, Alpha Heir Bronze.”

“You don’t recognize the shifter that is teaching your son? How is that possible?” Flint’s eyebrows shoot up and he sits slightly straighter in his seat. This does not go unnoticed by Coal’s father.

“I’ve never met him, Alpha Heir Bronze.” Miles swallows nervously.

“Never met the teacher… Or your son? Which is it?” I am seriously in danger of letting Titan loose on this shifter.

“The teacher, Alpha Heir Bronze.” I can see by the fear in his eyes that he knows the next question before it’s past my lips.

“When did you last see your son?” I say this slowly and quietly.

“I don’t know, Alpha Heir Bronze.” The sweat is running from his brow now and the fear is almost a physical thing emanating from him.

“I was going to lecture you on the correct behaviors of a responsible father, but I see that I would be wasting my time. You are disrespectful, selfish and a waste of my time and the pack's resources.” I call out to the warrior that is positioned on duty outside the office door, and the door whips open. “Take this shifter with the last one. Same rules apply except this one abandoned his pup rather than striking him. Before he leaves the packland ensure that he rejects his mate. I will tell her to expect it. NO, wait! I’ll tell her to reject him. Why should she suffer any pain of rejection? Miles, you will reject Eve in return or I will alpha command you to do so.”

Once Miles has been escorted from the office I slump into my chair and rub my palm across my face. “All that shit and it’s not even lunchtime, dammit!” Flint bursts out laughing and when I turn to look at him, I can’t help but join in. The next ten minutes I spend explaining to Flint about Taria’s failed kidnap attempt by the rogues, and answering his shocked questions.

When I get to the point where I describe her encounter with Savannah in the dining hall, I have great difficulty making him believe that Taria did in fact, snap Savannah’s neck in front of all the diners.

“It’s never going to be boring once you two are finally together, I’ll say that,” Flint states, shaking his head in disbelief.

“Funny, that’s exactly what Tati said to Taria.”

Chapter 19

TARIA

After I explained my expectations to my team, and seeing how they were so affected by being unable to get to me, and also being defeated by the home team warriors, I gave them the evening off. Being at the Wolfsfoot packhouse and having a protection detail from Alpha Gabriel, I felt safe enough that I could do so. Everywhere I went though, I saw either Wesley or Ember.

Having had a good night's sleep, I went for breakfast, where I call both Wesley and Ember to the table and have them join me. Alpha Gabriel and Luna Tati had to cry off from dining with me when something came up, but promised to catch up later.

Sitting and talking with Wesley and Ember gave me a feel for the Eclipse Pack, and I was pleasantly surprised when they told me how much the pack was looking forward to me becoming Luna. My attitude had been a definite red flag when they first heard about me, and I couldn’t get them to elaborate on where thisinformation had come from. The following gossip of what I was doing to become a good Luna, and the positive feedback they were gleaning, put everyone on my side, apparently. The news of my matchmaking with Dahlia and Silas had gone the rounds like wildfire, and I again wondered at their sources.

I voiced my concerns about having dispatched Savannah in such a public display, and they both beamed at me and couldn’t have made it any clearer that Savannah had had that coming for some time, and not just because of her obsessive chasing of Bronze. She was not a liked shifter at any level, and no matter where she went, she caused drama and left chaos in her wake. Although I was at peace with my actions, I can’t help feeling vindicated by their words.
