“Gotta go,” I muttered.

“I know,” she smiled sadly.

“Your gift will be here any day now” I grinned.

She laughed. “How you gonna explain it away to Dad?”

“I’ll tell it like it is. I think the world of you and wanted to get you a graduation gift. They know money’s not a concern for me. It’s not like I haven’t invested a lot more into the club before.” Pulling away, I jackknifed to a sitting position and got out of bed.

“I never knew that,” she mused.

I shrugged, leaning down to retrieve my jeans from the floor. “It’s not a big deal,” I slid the denim up my legs before fastening the buttons. “I want the club to have the best equipment, especially when it comes to security.” Walking to the tiny bathroom, I grabbed the spare toothbrush Freya had brought for me and loaded it up.

Freya appeared at the doorway. “When are you telling Dad about everything you’ve been doing on the sly?”

I continued brushing for a few seconds, taking in her tousled hair, perfectly sized, pert breasts, and how the white lace of her panties accentuated the olive tone of her soft, smooth, fragrant skin. Turning back to the sink, I spat and rinsed. “Promise me when we live together, you’ll only walk around the house like that. Only ever wanna see you wearing clothes when we go out.”

She giggled. “What if we get visitors?”

“I’ll send ‘em away.” Tagging her waist, I tugged her into me, loving how her hands automatically slid up my chest and around my neck. “Couple of months, baby and we can get this thing goin’ for real. No hiding, no sneakin’ around. Just you, me, work and eventually, babies.”

She smiled sadly. “I’ll miss the club.”

My heart panged because I would too.

Kissing her softly, I pulled her back into the bedroom and grabbed my tee. “How long you gonna stay here?” I asked, slipping the soft cotton over my head.

“About an hour,” she murmured. “I’ll call Abi and go home. Hopefully, I can time it for when you’re all in Church.”

I nodded. “Good idea.” Sitting on the bed, I pulled on my socks and boots, then grabbed my jacket and scarf, and headed for the door with a wink.

“See you later?” Freya called after me.

“Yeah,” I assured her, craning my neck. “Love you.”

“Love you too,” she replied, her final words lingering sweetly in the air as I closed the door behind me.

I jogged down the iron stairs to my bike that I’d strategically parked, hidden away out of sight from the road. The bleak landscape no longer seemed so cold and dreary. Freya warmed me from the inside out. As long as I had her, I could make it through anything.

I swung my leg over the saddle and pulled on my helmet before starting her up and heading onto the main road outta town toward the clubhouse.

As much as I hated riding, especially in the cold temperatures, I was grateful for it then. I could hide a bike better than an SUV, especially one belonging to the club. To keep meeting Freya, I needed to be discreet to avoid awkward questions.

Not for the first time, I pondered how much I hated all the lies, though I’d settled down considerably since the week before when I’d chased Freya on my bike and fucked her on the side of the road.

The whole Donovan O’Shea thing and the threat of her leaving me had pulled me back to where I needed to be. I’d resigned myself to the belief that what we were doing wasn’t wrong when there was so much love involved. How could it be bad when we were so beautiful together?

It didn’t take long to ride onto the road leading to the clubhouse. The prospect must’ve seen me coming because the gates to the compound were already opening when I pulled up. The hinges of the heavy iron gates squealed, piercing the silence.

I gave Billy a nod as I rode past him.

He returned a half-smile, his face unshaven and lines of tiredness around his eyes. The poor guy was run ragged keeping this place secure day and night. But he was loyal, and that was what mattered most.

Parking close to the garage, I killed the engine and sat for a moment, staring at the clubhouse.

I couldn’t believe I wouldn’t be here much longer. It had been my home for so long, I couldn’t imagine being so happy anywhere else. Still, I’d have Freya and that more than made up for it.

Dismounting, I put my kickstand on, squared my shoulders and headed toward the main entrance, smiling as the sound of a lone guitar played through the doors.
