I bent down in front of my Superguy, bracketing his face in my palms. “Tor, I know you’re hurting. We all are. We all love you, me most of all.” I rubbed at his knee, wishing he could feel me. “I can’t lose you. Not after all we’ve been through.”

“Come here.” Tor patted his thighs for me to sit on them. “That was a pretty impressive declaration.”

I looped my arms around his neck, snuggling into his warmth and comfort. “Superheroic?”

Tor smiled and kissed my cheek. “Superhero-worthy.”

“Good.” I circled his chest over his heart. “You’re my Prison Bitch. My Candy Guy. My Superguy. Even if you don’t feel like it right now.”

He let out a chuckle that kindled a fire in my belly along with the hope of bringing him back from his darkness. “Have you ever considered a career in personal coaching?”

I laughed and slapped his shoulder. “You can pay me in kisses.”

My heart cheered as his lips came to mine. Soft at first. Uncertain. Unworthy. I deepened it, showing him what he meant to me. The fire I’d walk through for him. The devastation I’d leave in my wake to save him.

The kiss went on for a steamy, solid minute, until he pulled away, breathless. “That was a pretty breathtaking kiss.”

I cupped his jaw and stroked, loving the feel of his fresh layer of stubble against my skin. Stubble he let grow out since his accident. I didn’t mind one bit. His hotness factor went up three thousand points.

“A breathtaking kiss for a breathtaking guy. One who makes my heart beat faster every time he’s near. One who makes me swoon every time he looks at me. One who’s the most amazing brother, son, and uncle. And an even better boyfriend.”

He squeezed me tighter, crushing me to him forever. “Fuck, Supergal. I knew you were the woman for me the moment I met you. You threw yourself into danger to save us. You’re as crazy as me. As headstrong as Knoxe. As wild as Raze. As determined as Pascal. You’re the perfect fit for us.”

Yes! I got through to him. I found him. Saved him from the darkness. Encouraged him back from the edge. My Superguy was back, and I’d never let him leave.

Tor linked our fingers and rolled us to the painted scenery. “Where’s this asshole, Nightmare, hiding?”

A stuttered, relieved breath burst out. I sat straighter, clinging to my man, wanting to sit on his lap forever. “The coward’s hiding in the Fangtree Forrest, protected by the thorn monsters.”

Tor nodded, a playful fire sparking to life in his eyes. “Let’s kill the bastard!”

We played the storyline I wrote out, Tor livening with each plot piece, and the little jokes I threw in. Together, we solved the mystery I created, defeating Captain Victorius’ enemy, and avenging his lost love. The whole time, Tor clasped my hand tightly, and sometimes broke out of character to admire, cuddle, and kiss me. Not that I was complaining one bit. Fireworks exploded in my chest each time I won a smile from my beautiful, sweet, protective man. Every curve of his lips warmed my heart and pumped hope through my veins that he wasn’t lost. That he was still mine.

Afterward, Tor awkwardly climbed out of his seat with my help, and we sat against the wall, indulging in the picnic, feeding each other the treats the warden’s team provided.

I slipped an olive between Tor’s lips, and he seductively sucked it into his mouth.

“This was just what the doctor ordered, Supergal.” He chewed the fruit.

I slung my arm over his shoulder and leaned against his solid, hard chest. “I knew you’d love it.”

“I love you.” He leaned his neck as best he could, and I stretched up to meet his lips, glancing them with mine in the softest, sweetest kiss that curled my toes.

“Love you forever, my Superguy.” I meant it. Every. Fucking. Word.

I was going to do whatever it took to prevent Tor from walking the lonely, dark path to defeat. Do whatever it took to light that determined fire inside him to walk again. And if he never took another step, I would be there to hold his hand, offer my shoulder in times of crisis, and encourage him.

If God, Karma, the Universe, whatever, tried to take him from me, I would burn the world down to avenge him.

CHAPTER26

Tor

I didn’t deserve this.Didn’t deserve her love. Didn’t deserve her decision to stay. For me. Fucking me.

Then she did this. Set up the room to resemble a fantasy setting. Wrote a fan fiction story of Captain Victorius—my favorite fucking superhero—defeating his long time nemesis.

What a woman. The most amazing girlfriend. Thoughtful. Loving. Sacrificing.
