Emboldened by her words, by my erection, I lifted her hips and brought her crashing down on me. “Ride me, Supergal. Take whatever pleasure you need. Come on my cock. Hard. Fast. Blinding.” My body electrified at every word as she bounced on my length.

Her strong, toned legs hugged my legs and hips. I made sure to circle her clit as she worked my cock, making her thighs tremble and clench over mine. Our mouths came together in an all-consuming kiss backed by fire, passion, need, and longing for the man she loved to return from the darkness I cast myself into. I climbed out for her, clinging to her like a life raft, terrified to go back there.

“Oh, Tor, that feels so good.” She clung to my shoulders, bracing herself as her slick heat slid up and down my shaft, driving me further into pleasure.

We moved together in perfect synchronicity. I teased her folds, strumming her slick bud, making her moan. Every sex-drunk whine, every heated kiss, every meeting of our eyes melted away more of my doubts and insecurities. The pleasure of our fused bodies spread a warm and tingling ecstasy through my cock, core, and chest.

She had me suspended in a world where my fears didn’t penetrate, in a world where she gave me the greatest gifts. Love. Acceptance. Confidence. Perseverance. This woman was my everything. My world. My shining light. The angel who saved me from the darkness.

My girl threw her head back, telling me she was close. So close. I wasn’t far behind her. Hell, she worked her magick to get me this far. Her body tightened with her release, and she cried out my name over and over like a prayer. My body flew into climax with her, vanishing in the dazzling light behind my eyes.

When I came to, she was curled around my body, breathing hard, softly kissing my chest and shoulders. I hugged her tighter, kissing the sheen of sweat from her shoulders and neck.

Making love to her never felt this good before. Sure, it was fantastic. Mind-blowing. This felt different. Special. My entire being lit up with light. Shackles broke away from my mind. Love drove to the center of me, a connection and merging of two souls.

“That was incredible, Tor.” She stroked my face. “Better than before.”

“Yeah, it was,” I panted.

A decade wouldn’t be enough to slake my thirst and love for her. This woman proved I was hers no matter what. Broken. Defeated. Hopeless. She still wanted me after all that. She fought for me. Now it was time to show her what she meant to me. To fight for what we had. Fight to keep her, proving to her every day that she made the right decision to stay.

CHAPTER27

Knoxe

“Knoxe, you’re with me.”Sentry Ben stood at the door of my cell, taut and on edge.

This didn’t look good. I got that posture when he escorted me to the warden to get my ass handed to me. What now? Another demotion? Stint in solitary? Shake up and beatdown?

Tension clamped on my muscles, and I set my poker hand down on the bed sheets. “What’s up?”

Astra’s body tightened, and she shifted on my lap, prompting my arm to curl tighter around her waist.

“I’ll tell you on the way.” Ben glanced out the door, across the corridor.

Wariness spiked in my gut. I didn’t like his secrecy when he was always upfront with me. After the attacks in the prison by guards and prisoners alike, I didn’t trust a soul in here besides my girl and teammates. Bottom line these days—stay smart and stay safe.

“Gotta give me more than that, Ben.” I circled Astra’s belly to soothe her mounting worry. “We’ve been jumped and stabbed a couple of times now. A man’s gotta exercise caution.”

Ben stepped a few paces into the cell and hiss-whispered, “Get your ass moving. I can’t give you any more than that.” He glanced at my observing team and back at the door.

Still not gonna cut it. I wasn’t putting myself or my team in danger. “Ben, are you leading me into a beatdown or shanking?”

Ben tugged at the collar of his guild tunic. “I swear you won’t be harmed, Knoxe.” He retreated to the door and checked outside again. “Now get your ass moving. I don’t have time for questions.”

Curiosity piqued, I shifted Astra out of my lap to get off the bed. On my way, I patted Pascal’s back and Tor’s arm, since we hung out in our girl’s cell to play poker.

Astra wiggled with me as I crawled off the bed. “I’ll come. You need a support person.”

“No. You’re staying here, Sunset.” I lifted her and set her back on the bed.

Like hell I would put her in danger. Trauma from her assault in the chemistry laboratory played out daily. Nightmares that made her whimper in her sleep. Checking over her shoulder all the time. Jolting at loud at unexpected noises. Resurfacing memories held her captive, sweating, shivering, and fucking crying. I clenched my fists, wanting to beat her assailants until they were bloody pulps, and teach them a lesson for messing with my girl.

“You need to go with someone for safety,” Astra reminded.

I glanced down at Pascal lounging on the bed, Tor in his wheelchair, where moments before, our girl graced him with a foot massage. Tor wasn’t much use in a fight to protect me or defend himself. The other twitched, uneasy from previous beatdowns.

Astra’s hand clamped down hard on my biceps. “Knoxe, please. I need to do this. I need to conquer my fear.”
