“If it was warranted, but it isn’t.” She jerked against him. “Let me go so I can finish this shift and go home to bed.”

As soon as he loosened his grip, she broke free.

“Do you want me to let Murphy out?” she heard behind her as she escaped.

He was willing to go let out her dog? What the hell was up with that? “Up to you,” she threw over her shoulder.

“Do you want me to wait for you to get home?”

Her feet stuttered to a stop, and she stared straight ahead, letting his question sink in.

This man confused the fuck out of her. She got whiplash dealing with him.

If she said yes, was he going to bolt again right after they had sex?

She turned. “Are you brave enough?”

She just threw down the gauntlet. Would he pick it up?

He stood, pulled out his wallet and threw some cash on top of the bar. He didn’t look at her until he tucked his wallet away and approached her.

When he got there, he lifted her chin with his fingers, his gray eyes narrowed on hers. “Don’t be late.”

Her heart skipped a beat when he spun on his boot heel and made his way to the exit. Her feet seemed to be stuck to the floor as she watched him walk away and disappear through the door.

She stood there chewing on her bottom lip, wondering if having sex with him again would be a mistake.

For both of them.

She shook herself mentally. He was probably only fucking with her. Trying to throw her off balance.

When she ducked behind the bar, she came face to face with Bulldog. “Ain’t he a little old for you?”

“I like them older, Bulldog. You know why?”

The big man grunted.

“Because when I’m not in the mood to fuck him, I can hide his little blue pills.”

When she grabbed a rag to use to wipe down some tables and headed out onto the floor, a roar of laughter followed her.

At least someone was amused with the situation.

Because she sure wasn’t.

ChapterTwenty-Six

After parkingher Audi in the garage, she glanced at the time. 3:15.

Exactly why her ass was dragging.

She stepped through the garage door and into the house, immediately deactivating the alarm.

She was actually surprised to see Crew’s Harley parked in the driveway when she pulled in. The sight of it and knowing he was waiting for her got her heart racing.Ifshe had to admit it.

But besides Murphy coming to greet her with a wagging tail and a few soft whines when she stepped through the interior garage door, she heard nothing else.

“C’mon, Murph. Let’s take you out.”
