That wasn’t fear. That was…

A man wanting a woman.

In all ways possible.

His erection was more proof.

Was she only testing him? Or was she grinding her hips against his because she wanted him as much as he wanted her?

Either way, it wasn’t good.

This was very fucking bad.

If this continued, it could lead them on a path of no return.

A mistake they could not undo.

An action they would eventually regret.

Making working together uncomfortable and unbearable. It could disrupt the team.

This had to stop.

And it had to stopnow.

He twisted his head, breaking the seal of their lips. He remained turned away with his eyes closed as he gathered his lost brain cells.

And his common sense.

Then he heard it. Her breathing.

Quick and shallow.

The kiss had affected her as much as him.

Shedidwant him.

Fuck.

That was going to make it so much more difficult to keep things professional.

To keep things between them uncomplicated.

“Yeah, you’re scared at where this will lead. You’re struggling,” she called him out. “You don’t want to admit what you want. You don’t want to give in to temptation.”

Setting his jaw, he opened his eyes and met hers. “Shut up.”

“See? You can’t even deny it. And even if you did, that steel rod in your jeans would prove you’re lying.”

He released her and took a step back, putting space between them so he could think.

His only thought was to escape.

“I gotta go.” He jerked into motion and strode quickly toward the back door.

“You never told me the reason for your visit,” she called out, making him pause before going inside.

He should go to Williams and demand she be removed from the task force. He needed to stay away from her. Because he wanted so much more than that damn kiss.
