Mick’s smile grew larger, taking on the hungry quality I had learned to notice in Jasper’s amusement. He was hitting on me. I hoped Jasper was watching. Would serve him right if another wolf hit on me after the way Sage was eyeing him.

Ava.I heard someone call my name, clear as anything. I spun around before turning back to Mick and gave him an apologetic look. “I’m sorry, did you say something?”

He cocked his head. “No?”

I brushed the strange feeling off, and ran my fingers through my hair, enjoying knowing Mick was watching me. I would’ve put money on the fact Jasper was keeping tabs on Mick. I took a sip of my beer and nearly spit it out as the voice echoed through my head again. Behave, Ava. I knew whose voice that was -- Jasper’s. But when I tried to meet his gaze, he was trapped in conversation with one of the elders. Couldn’t be him. Could it?

The mate bond. He said the bond usually allowed for telepathy, but he didn’t think such a thing would work for us. Obviously, he had thought wrong.

Did you hear what I said? Holy shit.Fuck. Fucking hell. What was I going to do now? Could he hear everything I was thinking?

If Jasper could hear my questions he ignored them, the slight smirk on his lips the only indication I had telling me he understood what was going on. His voice purred in my head, equal parts warning and seducing. Don’t play this game with me, Green. You’ll lose.

Asshole. We’d see about that.
