Page 123 of Corrupt Me

I can’t wait to finish college so we can move in together at our place, just Bailey and me.

My father’s face scrunches up. “I don’t want to hear any of that.”

“Stop being so clingy, you two,” I tell them, trying to sound annoyed and failing.

“I bet he doesn’t say that to Bailey,” my sister snickers, sounding relieved.

My father’s eyes shine. “Of course not. You two are basically squeezing him to death while he just found a reason to live.”

When we stand up, I ask them, “Where are your 24/7 guards?” (a.k.a. their boyfriends)

“Outside, giving us a moment,” Mia says, giggling.

Dad gestures toward the front door. “Bring them inside before they have an aneurysm from waiting.”

Once inside, Kaden approaches me. “You okay?”

I nod, not lying.

Blake jerks his chin in my direction and goes to my sister.

“Thank you for your concern,” I say to his back.

He flips me off. I can’t believe we’re going to be brothers-in-law, but I don’t think there’s anyone better for my sister.

My phone vibrates with a message from Abi next.

Survivors are the toughest. Get ready to get your ass kicked at chess tonight.

Get ready to lose, Barbie.

If they’re here, I want Bailey to be here as well. I’d trade them for her in a second.

“Hungry?” my father asks, and we all nod. Right then, Christine, Kaden’s mother, walks inside. She offers me a soft smile.

“You know where the kitchen is,” my father tells us as he goes to kiss her. I am happy he’s happy. It’s his second chance. And I’m sure he will not let it slip through his fingers.

“Cillian,” Christine says sweetly, and Kaden and I groan, sharing the misfortune of our parents being together. But they seem good, and that’s why we’ll never say a damn thing.

While she fusses over Celine and Mia, the guys prepare breakfast. But I’d rather eat it with Bailey, so I stand up. “Enjoy it. I have to go back to classes.”

“I told you it would hit him,” Kaden says, the corners of his mouth tipped in a smug smile.

Blake eyes me. “I was losing faith in the fucker.”

“Ignore them. I am proud of you,” my twin says, grinning.

“Remember the first part for later, Silver,” Blake says in a low voice, and Mia squirms in her seat.

“Nothing like making up for lost time,” Celine says, both she and Kaden sharing a secretive look.

“For fuck’s sake, have you heard of boundaries?” I ask them, shuddering.

That catches my father’s attention. Thankfully, he was too engrossed in whatever Christine was telling him.

“I hope neither of you is neglecting your classes.”

They dig into the food, pretending to be busy chewing while glaring at me. The assholes. It’s not my fault they study less, fuck more.
