“Oh, my God, you’re making lasagna,” Janie said, walking into the kitchen. There were lines of tiredness around her eyes.

“Yes, a special treat. Go change, and I’ll put the garlic bread in the oven.”

With a squeal, Janie raced out of the kitchen. Cole couldn’t help but grin. They always said a way to a man’s heart was through his stomach, but in this case, it was her heart. He took a deep breath and let it out. It was the little things he could do for Janie that made him happy.

Five minutes later she came dancing into the kitchen in shorts and a t-shirt. He had the table set and a bottle of red wine on it. “Have a seat, my lady.” He pulled a chair out for her.

“Thank you, sir.”

His dick pulsed at her ‘sir’. He glanced at her neck. She wasn’t wearing the necklace, so he willed his cock to settle down. After she was seated, he removed the bread from the oven, cut the lasagna, and put it on the plates, then sliced the garlic bread. He carried the plates over to the table, setting them down.

“I’ve died and gone to heaven,” Janie said, picking up her fork.

“Don’t die yet, I have plans for tonight.”

Her left hand went to her neck, and then she grinned. “I look forward to it.”

“So do I.” He poured her a glass of wine; one glass with dinner wouldn’t hurt either of them. He didn’t drink and play. “So, tell me about your day.”

Her fork paused halfway to her mouth. She shrugged her shoulders. “Just a normal day.” Janie slipped the fork with a piece of lasagna into her mouth.

Cole’s dick jumped. She’s just eating; calm down. He took a bite of his own meal. “What is a normal day?” He kept his gaze on her. Something flickered over her features—he wouldn’t call it fear—apprehension, that was it. What was she hiding about her job?

“You know business stuff.” She took a sip of wine. “You’ve been super busy at work, but you’re home early today. What changed?”

He shook his head. She was trying to deflect him away from her, and he’d allow it, for now. He’d get more about her job out of her later. “Case settled, thank goodness.” It wasn’t often he had cases like this one that consumed him.

“That’s great.”

“Yes.” He glanced at his plate, surprised to see his food gone. When had he eaten? His attention had been solely focused on Janie. She finished eating, and he took their empty plates to the sink.

“I’ll do dishes while you put everything away,” Janie said from his side.

“Sounds like a plan.” They worked together quietly and efficiently, so within twenty minutes the kitchen was sparkling again. When they were finished, Cole took her hand in his. “Are you up for a little surprise?”

Her eyes brightened. “Yes.”

“Good.” He pulled her out of the kitchen and down the hallway, then stopped at the playroom door. Her swift intake of breath told him she wasn’t expecting this. Good. He liked to keep her guessing. “The room is unlocked, and you may enter any time you want. You may ask me to take you into the playroom anytime as well.”

A giggle left her lips, and Cole tilted her head up until he could see into her eyes. “Be aware, the playroom is my domain. In this room, anything goes within your limits. I’ll push those in the playroom more than outside of it.”

“I understand.” Her voice was breathless, but her eyes were clear and bright.

“Then enter the room with the understanding, that tonight is the beginning of a new level.” He released her.

Cole waited by her side. This was her decision to make. He wasn’t going to rush her or push her into it.

Janie stood staring at the wood door. This was the gateway to Cole’s inner sanctum. His playroom. She could barely breathe. She’d waited so long for this and now ... her nerves tingled with excitement.

Her hand shook as she reached out to grasp the doorknob. When her fingers closed over it, she glanced up at Cole.

“Go ahead,” he said.

Taking a deep breath, she turned the knob and pushed the door open. The room was dark, and then lights flared to life. She looked at Cole. He had his hand on the light switch.

Janie stepped into the room and then stopped. “You’ve added stuff.”

“Yes.” He grinned at her. “Go explore, and if you have questions, ask.”
