“Good, give me a minute to get this input, and then you can go in. I’ll need your driver’s license.”
Alicia opened her tiny purse, pulled out her license, and handed it to Rick.
“We’ll need a locker for tonight,” Cole told him.
“Go pick one out.” Rick waved his hand toward the row of lockers with keys in them. Taking Janie’s hand once again, Cole led her over to the lockers. Finding one, he opened it, put his keys and wallet inside, then gestured for her to put her purse in there.
Janie slipped her purse into the locker, then turned and lifted her chin. “What’s going on, Sir?”
Cole lifted his hand and caressed her bare shoulder. Her skin was so soft and smooth. And she called him ‘Sir’. “Nothing, sweetheart. I only want to make sure you and Alicia are safe.”
“Rick runs a good place, and I’ve been here before.”
“Don’t remind me.” He glanced over to see Rick flirting with Alicia. “You hooked up with a wannabe, but tonight this,” he ran his finger over her necklace, “signifies you’re mine.”
Janie’s eyes widened. “But ... ”
“No buts. Nothing without me tonight, Janie. I make the rules, remember.”
She frowned. “Yes, Sir.” Her words were soft, but then she stuck her tongue out at him.
“Careful.” He leaned down. “Don’t tempt me to punish you in public.” He stepped back as Alicia came over.
“Okay, done.”
“Good, put your purse in the locker,” Cole said. Once that was done, he grinned at the two women. “Okay, let’s go in so you two can get this out of your system.” He guided them to the big double doors and pushed them open. “Welcome to Whips.”
Alicia’s mouth dropped open, but she shut it quickly, and Janie couldn’t blame her. From the outside Whips didn’t look like much, but the converted warehouse contained a lot of space.
“This is ... what’s the word I want ... not what I was expecting,” Alicia said.
“It’s not all whips and chains.” Janie let out a laugh. It was one of the reasons she’d gone to play at Whips in the first place, not only because she knew Rick would watch out for her, but because the place was different.
There was a huge seating area off to one side, with sofas and overstuffed chairs to relax on and take in the atmosphere. The main play area was spread out around the rest of the warehouse. The lighting was subdued, but not dark. And the music. It was another thing she liked. While the music had a strong grunge beat to it, it wasn’t overbearing. You could actually hear people as they talked to you.
“Where to first?” Cole asked.
“Can we just walk around?” Alicia asked.
“Sure.” Cole slid his arm around Alicia’s waist and then reached for Janie, but she danced away and went to Alicia’s side. Cole frowned at her.
“This way we can talk without having to talk around you.” Cole’s frown didn’t lessen, but Janie didn’t care. She wanted to be at her best friend’s side.
“Fine, but this will be fast.”
Cole led them around the room at a spirited pace until they were at a set of sofas at the edge of the play area. Alicia looked at Janie, who shrugged her shoulders.
“Hey, Cole, long time no see,” someone across the room yelled. “Come over for a minute.”
Cole nodded, then looked at them. “Why don’t you both sit down, don’t move, and don’t talk to any men.” With that he walked away.
“Phew.” Alicia exhaled a sigh of relief.
“No kidding.” Janie sank down onto the cushions, grateful to be off her feet for now. These heels were hard to deal with sometimes.
“What is going on with him?” Alicia asked, taking a seat next to Janie.
“Just Cole being a Dom.” But he was unusually tense, and what was that whole thing with the necklace signifying she was his? It wasn’t a collar, as much as she wanted it to be.
