“Since this is private property, that’s up to you.” Allyson walked around, taking note of the soil and how far out the building would extend. She glanced at the plans in her hand. “Looks like you’re expanding the bathrooms and other areas?”

“Yes.” Zeke pointed the changes out on the plans. “Since the club is getting busier, I suggested we expand the bathrooms and the entryway.”

“Makes sense. How long do you think this is going to take?” This was a large job.

“Once you give the okay, we’ll start clearing, level the land, make sure the utilities are good, and start on the foundation. That should take about a month or so. The building will take several,” Zeke said.

“Summer is the best time to do it,” Max said. “We have light later, and since the club doesn’t open until seven, the construction crews will be long gone before that.”

“Makes sense. I don’t see any issues at this point. I’ll need to follow up at each stage.” Allyson jotted down some notes. “Are you going to expand the parking lot as well?” she asked as they walked to the front.

“Yes.” Max rubbed the back of his neck.

“It’s here on the plans.” Zeke ran his finger over the drawing. “There’s no trees in the area, just foliage. But once we expand it, we’re going have trees planted and more foliage to spruce up the area.”

“I’ve been told it’s a little sparse.” Max glanced over at Sierra, who grinned.

“What about lighting?” She noticed the lighting on the building itself.

“We’re going to make use of the building and put up flood lights to illuminate the parking lot better. If needed, we’ll put some subtle lighting on the edges so there are no dark corners, but not enough to affect local wildlife,” Zeke said.

“You’ve thought of everything.”

“I hope so.” Zeke’s hand brushed the back of hers.

“That’s all I need to see for today,” Allyson said.

“Not the inside?” Max asked.

“Not today. Eventually, but since it’s taking a wall out, Zeke knows what to do.”

Max nodded. “Thank you for coming out.”

“Part of the job.”

“It was nice to meet you,” Sierra said. “Make sure to bring her out one night, Zeke.”

“And with that, we’ll bid you good-bye.” Max took Sierra by the arm and led her inside.

“What did she mean?” Allyson asked Zeke.

“Let’s walk to your truck.” Zeke cupped her elbow. “Sierra is hoping you’ll come to the club with me one night.”

“Oh?” While they’d talked about it in the beginning, he hadn’t mentioned it again.

“No pressure. Which jobs did you lose?”

“Rudy got the new medical clinic over on fifth, the new library, and the home remodel. Then we’ll end up splitting any new jobs, unless the higher ups decide differently.”

“That’s it for a while. My crews are tapped out, especially with taking on the club expansion.”

“I’m happy you’re so busy.”

“I am too.” He leaned down. “Dinner tonight?”

“Can’t. Remember, I promised Dani we’d have a girls’ night.” She’d been spending her evenings with Zeke and missed seeing her friend.

“Right.”
