“There’s my Kaley,” he whispered.

She tried to sit up, but he tightened his arms around her.

“Relax. How do you feel?”

“Tired. I’m not sure why, except you chased me around the garden.” She glanced around and realized they were in a private room. “When did we come inside the club?”

“What do you last remember?” His voice was soft, but there was a twinge of worry there.

“We were in the clearing. I was on the bed, you put a blindfold on me, restrained me, then talked about how you forgot to remove my clothes and...” Blackness filled her mind. “I don’t remember.”

“Anything?”

“Nothing.” She frowned. “What happened?”

“Just a minute.” Anthony shifted. “Jordan.”

“Hey.” Jordan stuck his head in the room. “Oh good, you’re awake.”

“Yes.” She shivered. Anthony tightened his hold on her.

Jordan grabbed one of the blankets sitting on the chair, shook it open, and draped it over her. “Thank you.” Why was she so cold?

“No problem.” Jordan looked at Anthony. “What do you need?”

“Would you ask Regina to come in. Kaley doesn’t remember what happened.”

Jordan nodded and left.

“I’m fine.” Another shiver racked her body.

“I want Regina to check you out.”

She opened her mouth.

“It’s not up for negotiation. You’ve been out of it for two hours.”

“What?” Two hours. “You mean I’ve been asleep for that long?” That’s what he had to mean. Anthony shook his head, but didn’t say anything.

Jordan returned with Regina.

“Glad to see you awake,” Regina said, reaching down and putting her fingers on Kaley’s wrist. “A little fast, but steady. How do you feel?”

“A little cold but otherwise okay,” Kaley said.

“She doesn’t remember calling her safe word,” Anthony said.

Regina frowned. “What’s the last thing you do remember?”

“As I told Anthony, I remember being restrained and him telling me he forgot to take my clothes off, and that’s it. A total blank after that until I woke up here in his arms.”

Anthony’s arms tightened around her, and Kaley snuggled against him. How could she forget two hours? Let alone saying her safe word.

“I see.” Regina checked her eyes, then checked her body.

“What are you looking for?” Kaley asked.

“Any bites or anything that might have caused an adverse reaction. I didn’t find any earlier, but that doesn’t mean something won’t show up now.”
