“Not a problem.”

Kaley’s stomach rumbled. “I guess I’d better get something to eat.” Her budget could handle having lunch out. “Be right back.” She walked to the counter, ordered a bowl of soup and two beef empanadas, plus some iced tea.

Back at the table with her tea, she placed the number at the end. “I should have asked if you want something.”

“Lara’s bringing mine in a few.” Dani waved her hand. “I eat here so often she knows what I like.” Dani studied Kaley for a minute. “What did you want to talk about?”

Kaley swallowed and took a sip of her tea as her mouth dried out. “Ummm, a little bit ago, you did a demo with Anthony with his knives.” A shiver ran through her body.

“I did.”

“Can you tell me about it?” Kaley had talked with her therapist, who also happened to be the kink therapist Tessa had given her. Her therapist suggested talking with someone about knife play, someone she trusted to tell her the truth. She also reminded Kaley about what happened to her was years ago, and while traumatic, Kaley had made great strides and not to let something like this cause a backslide.

“What do you want to know?”

“Everything.”

Dani laughed. “Tall order.” Lara brought Dani’s and Kaley’s orders at the same time, then left.

“Were you nervous?” Kaley asked.

“A bit. Mainly because it’s something I’ve never tried before.” She took a bite of her sandwich.

Kaley nodded as she took a bit of her empanada. “I didn’t see much of it. Did…” Kaley swallowed. “Did it hurt?”

Dani’s eyes widened. “Absolutely not.” She put her sandwich down and reached across the table and rested her hand on the back of Kaley’s. “It’s all a mind fuck.”

“People have said that, but I don’t quite understand.”

“Let’s see if I can explain.” Dani withdrew her hand. “It was something new to me, too, but I’d been wanting to try. I’ve watched Anthony with other demos.”

Kaley nodded.

“Some consider it mind manipulation, and it can be. In the wrong hands, knife play can create harm. You won’t see that at Wicked Sanctuary.”

“But Anthony does it.”

“In a minor aspect. He uses his voice and tone to create a world with his knives, but one thing I know for certain. He has never drawn blood or intentionally hurt someone.”

“His knives look sharp.”

“Oh, they are. If you’ve ever seen him work with them, you’ll notice how he makes sure the tip and sharp edges are never against a sub’s skin. It’s all about the sensation of the cold metal against one’s skin, not about drawing blood.”

“But accidents can happen.” Kaley rubbed below her breasts.

“They can, but not with Anthony. He might act like he’s done something wrong. A few months ago, during another demo, a Dom poured chocolate syrup over the sub’s arm after Anthony ran the dull edge of his knife across the skin.”

Kaley hand fluttered to her chest. “What happened?”

“The sub let out a cry. Anthony stepped back as the Dom grabbed her before she panicked.”

“But she could have panicked and caused Anthony to hurt her.”

Dani shook her head. “I’d heard Anthony and the Dom discuss it before the scene, so Anthony was prepared. Trust me, if Anthony ever hurt someone, he’d destroy his knives.”

“How do you know that?” Kaley still couldn’t think about knife play with Anthony, but this helped her understand how important it was to him.

“He’s always improving his skill. Do you know he still goes and works with the Master he learned from?”
