He nodded. “Then I’ll see you Saturday.” Anthony squeezed her hand.
“Yes.”
“If you ever need a ride, ask me. I’m here for you, Kaley. Always. Will you spend time with me after your shift?”
Her lips turned up. “I will.”
His features lightened, and Kaley’s muscles relaxed. Baby steps. She could do this.
“Thank you.” He squeezed her hand again before releasing it. “I guess I should let you get back to work.”
She nodded and stood. Anthony followed suit. He grabbed the flowers as they walked out the door and to her van. Once there, he captured her hand and turned her to him. “See you Saturday night.” He leaned over and brushed a light kiss over her lips before placing the bouquet in her arms.
Before she could react, he straightened, released her hand, and was walking away. Kaley climbed into her van and placed the flowers on the passenger seat but didn’t leave. She put her fingers to her tingling lips.
She glanced over at the flowers. White and red roses. He must have spent a fortune on them. Kaley shook her head. She wanted to be with Anthony. She missed him the past few weeks; it was her own fault. But until she dealt with her issues, she had to be strong. It was going to be a long few days until Saturday.
Chapter Twenty-Two
Kaley all but ran into Wicked Sanctuary, changed, and then headed into the club to get behind the bar. Thank goodness she’d gotten a ride with one of the other subs.
“Not like you to be late,” Noah commented.
“An appointment ran over.” She blew a strand of hair back.
Noah stared at her before nodding and walking off. Kaley took a deep breath and got to work, not that there was much going on. Two Doms sat at one end of the bar chatting, and that was it. The rest of the bar was empty.
Actually, the club wasn’t as full as she was used to seeing, and she wondered what that was about when Jordan wandered up to the bar. “Evening, Kaley.”
“Master Jordan. The club seems empty tonight.”
“Yes. There’s a festival a couple of towns over. It impacted the club due to traffic and whatnot.”
“Oh.” She hadn’t even thought about it.
“We’ll probably close early if it doesn’t pick up.”
“How early?”
“We’re talking two instead of four.” He smiled. “Not too early.”
Kaley glanced over as Anthony walked up. “Jordan, Kaley.”
Her heart sped up. Anthony was bare chested tonight. His tats were on display; that was new. Her mouth watered as she took him in. The man was sculpted and, combined with a pair of low riding cotton pants, downright kissable.
The club doors opened with a bang, and Logan Wolfe walked in still dressed in his police uniform. He made a beeline for Jordan.
“I know I’m not dressed right,” Logan said as he approached Jordan. “I’m on duty. I came to tell you there’s a major accident on the main road to the club. We’re doing one way traffic control.”
“Anyone hurt?” Jordan asked.
“Life flight is on the way. It’s not a pretty sight. But you may want to tell everyone. It’ll take them all a lot longer to get home tonight. They’ll close down the road for the life flight, and even after that, it’s going to be one way traffic control until tomorrow morning.”
Jordan nodded. “Thanks for letting me know.”
Logan gave them a wave and left.
“Well, that changes the plans for tonight. Kaley, will you cut the music please.”
