Anthony closed the door and dumped the bundle on the bed. “Let’s see. Some sweats, t-shirts, and sweatshirts. Packages of underwear, toothbrushes and toothpaste.” He placed everything out on the bed. “A comb and brush as well.”
“That’s so sweet of Sierra.”
“It is. I wonder how they have packages of underwear?”
Kaley giggled, and he stared at her. “Sub joke.”
“Explain, please.”
“Right after I joined, there was a small party at Lara’s café with all the subs in attendance. It was a mini celebration of Sierra’s upcoming marriage.” She giggled again. “Anyway, the joke was to bring a present for the couple, but it had to be an intimate present. This was the result.” She gestured to the underwear.
“The subs gave her underwear?” He shook his head.
“Yep, these are the normal ones. There were crotchless, thongs, edible ones. It was really quite funny.”
“Thank goodness we didn’t get the others.” Anthony bit his lip so as not to blurt out that he’d love to eat the edibles off of Kaley. “How would you like to do this? I can step outside while you change.”
Kaley shook her head. “We’ve been naked in front of each other before. It’s fine. Besides I’m starting to feel chilled. I’m more than ready to get beneath the covers.” She blushed the cutest pink—another reason he was so taken with her.
Anthony grabbed the package of men’s underwear and a pair of sweats and moved across the room. He turned his back to give her some privacy.
While she was right that they’d been naked in front of each other, it had been a few weeks ago. He quickly undressed and put on the new clothes. The boxers and sweats fit nicely. He folded his clothes and put them on top of the cabinet.
“I’m going to turn around.”
“Okay.”
He turned and couldn’t hold back grin. Kaley had to roll up the sweat pants, and thankfully, they had a drawstring because, otherwise, they would have fallen off.
“Stop grinning.” She pushed up the sleeves of the sweatshirt. “I feel like a little kid, and I’m not a small woman.”
“Compared to Max you are.” He walked over to her and framed her face. “At least this way you can be comfortable.”
She shrugged. “I guess.”
“I’ll put your things with mine.” He took her folded clothes and put them with his before turning back to her. “How do you want to handle this?” Anthony gestured to the bed.
It was a large king bed, but he didn’t want her to worry about something happening she didn’t want. He could take the two chairs and rest.
Kaley walked over to him. “I think we can share a bed.” She caressed his cheek.
“Lights on or off?”
“Off.”
“Get in bed first.” Once Kaley was in bed, he switched off the lights. While the light had been subtle, now the room was filled with dim light from the exit sign over the door, and one emergency light in the corner. Anthony waited a minute.
His eyes had adjusted, though not perfectly, but he could see the outline of the bed and made his way over and sat down.
“Better get under the covers. I doubt there’s a lot of heat in the club.”
Anthony chuckled. “Usually too many bodies to worry about it.” He slipped under the covers. He could see Kaley on her side facing him.
“Now what?” she whispered.
He settled on his side, facing her. “How about we finish our conversation before Max’s phone call interrupted.”
She sighed. “About what you said.”
