“Who,” I smack her in the face. “The hell,” I punch her in the nose. “Are you calling a whore?!” I yank her hair, pulling out a couple of strands, seeing red.
“AHHHHHHH! AXIL! AXIL! GET HER OFF ME! GET HER OFF ME!” she screams.
“GLORY STOP!”
“MS. GLORY, PLEASE LET GO!”
“FER FECK’S SAKE GLORINDA, STOP!” Sir shouts viscerally and I have to jump back. “GET ’ER THE FECK OUT O’ HERE OR I’LL FECKIN’ KILL YU!”
“AYE, SIR!” Fabian snatches up the coat that had fallen from my person, placing it back on me before he swoops me into his arms and sprints out of the room, but not before I catch a glimpse of the ire on Sir’s face.
“Wait, I n?—”
“Leave him be, Ms. Glory. You don’t want to see Mr. O’Hara when he’s angry,” Fabian warns as he runs with me outside where I see a car waiting. He slid us both inside, surprising me since we’re not going up to my room but outside the house while I’m still undressed.
“Where are we going?”
“To Mr. and Mrs. Farwell’s until Mr. O’Hara calls for you,” he answers, checking his beeper.
“M-Mr. and Mrs. Farwell?”
“Bunny and Wolf,” he clarifies.
“Oh… okay,” I sit back, fiddling with my hand and wincing when I notice my knuckles are bleeding. He frowns, winces, and takes up my hand, very gently removing my ring and putting it away safely before ripping his shirt to wrap my hand.
“Stop at the nearest supérettes,” he orders the driver. About twenty minutes later, we park on the curb and he gets out. Ten minutes after that, Fabian returns with bandages, underwear, pants and a shirt, which he quickly helps me get into.
The ride to Bunny and Wolf’s house is uneventful, but my stomach is in knots as we pull up to their home. Bunny is standing there waiting for us, but Wolf is nowhere to be seen.
While Fabian helps me out of the car, he speaks in a hushed tone, undoubtedly discussing my transgressions, which make me feel a tad bit remorseful. When they are through speaking, I expect Fabian to come over to me, but I’m stunned when he instead gets back in the car and heads off, leaving me alone with Bunny.
“Wh… where is he going?” I panic, going to run after the car, but Bunny holds me back and scoops me into his arms, shushing me.
“It’s okay. Axil called him back, and Wolf is there as well.”
“O… oh,” I groan and fiddle with my hands, fixing my shirt sleeves, unsure what to do. Yeah, I like Bunny and Wolf, but it feels awkward being here alone with just Bunny.
“Come. Let’s go inside and wait. I’m sure Wolf won’t be too long.” He holds his hand out and I hesitate, but take it, noticing that the usual intense and sexual atmosphere that usually surrounds him is more relaxed and rather friendly, leaving me more comfortable to accept the hand offered, but feeling downtrodden.
“Okay, but do you think everything will be okay?”
“This is Axil. The problem will be solved before the sun rises,” he reassures me.
“I… if you say so… but this is too much. To think she would show up like this…” I mutter. “God, can today get any worse?” I sigh, going up the steps to his home, but before I can take a step into his home, six… maybe even ten black cars pull up and open their doors, holding out guns, shocking me. Bunny, to my astonishment, pulls out a gun himself, looking unphased and menacing as he pulls me behind his back and to cover behind a pillar.
I’m no stranger to guns since I grew up around a military Sargeant, but this is excessive. What the hell is happening?
“LET THE GIRL GO, AND PUT YOUR HANDS IN THE AIR!” I blink, cocking my head to the side. I put my hand to my ear, scratching it because I feel as if I’m losing the last of the mind that I have left…Why does that voice sound like my da—“GLORINDA! THIS IS YOUR FATHER! ARE YOU HURT ANYWHERE?!” he speaks on the loudspeaker. I clutch my stomach and squeeze my eyes shut, groaning.Damn… me and my big mouth!
Chapter 18
The Power and The Glory
GLORY
This isn’t good for my heart… I never in a million… no… a trillion years thought I would be sitting at table in between Bunny, Dad, and Linus of all people, yet here I am, proved extremely wrong.
“Glorinda, explain yourself. Why have you not contacted me or answered any of my pages?!” Dad bangs his fist against the table, making me jump and Bunny scowl, which only makes him glare at Bunny harder. “And who is the hell is this strange man you’re here with?!” he grits out.
