“Good, I guess you can stay here and watch but don’t get in the way.”

“YAY! We won’t disturb anyone!”

“Oh, do you remember what daddy said when he left for holiday?” I question and they look at each other with wide eyes and smile before turning to me and nodding.

“Yes! You said that when you came to get us we’ll have a new mommy and we will get new identities!” Lilian clasps her hands together. “Is it time daddy?! Was that pretty lady who was with you earlier our new mommy?”

“Yes, her name is Glory, but you call her mommy okay?”

“Of course! Oh! Did she pick out our names?! Her eyes shine and I chuckle laughing fishing the sheet of paper from my pocket and hold out my hand and Lawrence hands me the documents in his hand. I hand Lilian the paper and she forms a hug smile. I then draw her attention to official name change document.

“I love it! Mommy picked out beautiful names! Margret and William! Did you hear that Robert?! You’re now William, so don’t you forget okay?!”

“Otay! I won’t!” He nods and I beam at the perfect little family I’ve created.

“Oh your new mommy made you some clothes. They are in her studio, who don’t you go change into them so we can go visit her and say hi?

“Yayyyyy!” They jump up and down sprinting upstairs with their nannies to change and I smile down at the names.

Chapter 20

A New Beginning

AXIL

Two Years Before France…

I make my way through the main house, cigar in hand already impatient, ready to leave this feckin’ place. Idina wants me to at least the baby… she said it would make me feel more fatherly.

“Where is she?” I mumble, bored.

“In the room down the hall, sir,” the attendant answers with a bow.

Nodding once, I keep forward until I stop in the door with a star in in the middle and thrust the door open. Idina sits in the rocking chair, holding her belly, and smiles at me as I walk into the room.

“Axil! You came! Lilian, go say hello to you father,” she urges the little girl and I scowl when the little marshmallow comes over and hugs me around the leg.

“Hewo da!” she exclaims, but I ignore her, wanting this meeting to be over.

“Why did you call me here Idina?” I puff out the cigar and the little marshmallow starts coughing. Even though I don’t give afuck about Idina or her offspring, I hand Lawrence the cigar and he quickly stubs it out.

“Are you still working to get rid of your accent? And what do you mean why I called you here? I wanted to see you! Iampregnant with your child!” she wines and I chuckle. This woman must think I’m a fool.

“So you’re telling me you called me all the way to Venice just to see you and a tyke I dinna give a feck about?” I curl my lip in disgust.

“Come on! Don’t say that, Axil. The baby is kicking, do you want to feel it?” Idina gets up and takes my hand, placing it onto her belly, but I snatch it away just as fast.

“Idina, dinna make me feckin’ embarrass yu front o’ yer child,” I grit out, shoving me hands in me pockets to suppress my emotions. If she tries something like again, I’ll really wind up killing her.
