My eyes went wide.

Maddy was gorgeous. Straight blond hair, braided half-back, and bright green eyes. She was shorter than her sister, dressed in casual clothes that hugged her curvy body beautifully.

The rules had never been a problem before, but now I was worried.

Mark wrapped both arms around his daughter, hugging her.

Melody looked on, her arms still crossed.

After a moment, Mark turned to me, turning Maddy toward me. “Maddy, this is Jacob Reed, Olympic silver medalist and our snowboard instructor.”

Maddy turned to me. Her eyes lit up as she swept them over me. “Nice to meet you, Jacob.” She held out her right hand.

I shook her hand enthusiastically. “Nice to meet you, too.”

Melody huffed but didn’t say anything.

Maddy let go of my hand but smiled at me. “I’ve already got some marketing ideas. I’d love to have a chance to get together and—”

Melody took the chance and cut Maddy off. “Whoa, hang on. You don’t get to bypass me and make decisions. You’rejustthe marketing coordinator. I manage the whole resort, and I have the final say. Got it?”

Maddy’s face went red.

I felt a flicker of anger.

“Yeah, uh… I… I got it,” Maddy said quietly.

I frowned, looking back at Maddy. “We’ll talk. I’d like to hear your ideas.”

She looked up and smiled.

Oh, I was in deep trouble.

Mark patted both girls on the shoulders. “Well. I’ll leave you to it. I’m going back down the mountain for the weekend, but I’ll check in soon. It’s supposed to snow overnight. Let’s hope for a busy weekend!”

I stepped back to let him say goodbye to his daughters but couldn’t take my eyes off Maddy.

She was definitely going to be a problem.

Chapter Two

Maddy

Dad left, leaving me with Melody.

This wasn’t exactly what I wanted.

I was grateful for the job, but working with my sister wouldn’t end well. I knew that much for sure. All my life, Melody had bossed me around, and now she was literally my boss.

I knew Dad had done it because he didn’t want me to struggle. And he wanted to keep the family business, well, in the family.

I understood, but I didn’t have to like it.

I watched the door close behind him. Melody was still standing nearby, along with the ski instructor.

No, snowboard.

This was the guy Dad talked about all the time, some athlete I didn’t know much about. He was supposedly a big draw to the resort.
