“Not happening, Yax. You are already living rent free in a house I own, which I allow out of the goodness of my heart. I’m paying a mortgage on that place, and if you want to continue trying to squeeze money from me, then I’ll see a lawyer about you signing a tenancy agreement.”
“You can’t do that. Franklin is your stepson. You have responsibilities towards him.” Yax is getting red in the face, and I can see something behind her eyes that I’m not liking.
I open my mouth to respond when again, Bitty appears from nowhere. Now she said she was going to the clubhouse, so I’m shocked she is still around. But what she says next has my blood starting to boil.
“Oh, hello, Yax. Is Benny still living at your house? I hear he is the real father of your son Franklin, and not Blake's poor, dead husband. Is that why Benny is living at your house with you and his son?”
My head spins toward Yax, and I can see another flash behind her eyes. Oh yes, there is something going on here, and I’m not going to be made a fool of any longer. “How long has this man been living in the house that I own?”
Yax swallows hard, before muttering. “Not long.”
“He’s been there a year or more, Blake. I have proof because my friend Marjorie lives directly opposite Yax, and she has photographs on her cellphone of that man coming and going. That right Yax, over a year? He’s Franklin’s dad and you are screwing Blake over for a free roof over your head.” Bitty is nearly nose-to-nose with Yax and is so angry each time she speaks, spittle flies hitting Yax in the face, who jerks back trying to not get hit by it.
“I’ll be seeking legal advice, Yax, about Franklin’s DNA and for you to either sign a lease or get the hell out of my house.” I turn and open the door, giving Bitty a smile. “You want a cup of coffee, Bitty?”
“No, I have people to see, but I’ll find out more information for you about this bitch, don’t you worry,” pointing at Yax, who is rushing down the street. “I’ll be having my boys look into you and your man, Yax, so I’d start packing, ready to run if I were you.”
“Thanks, Bitty,” I say, as soon as Yax is far enough away.
“Don’t thank me. I’m more than happy to take that bitch down. That poor son of hers is going to have no life at all. He’s not your husband’s son, Blake. She saw him as an easy one to fool. She bragged about it while out of town at The Nitelife, in Midville, which is only fifty-minutes away. She was overheard by Marjorie’s granddaughter Carolyn, and of course she told her Grammie, because Marjorie loves gossip.”
“I’m going to have to find out the costs of legally getting a DNA from Franklin, and to have Yax removed from my house. I don’t want her living there anymore.” I rub my face with the palms of my hands and give Bitty a smile as I thank her again and head inside.
How I’m going to afford this I have no idea, but I’ll have to look at how much I can save in various places, like utilities. I’m pleased that the van for work is not my responsibility regarding gas. I have an allowance and I’ll walk everywhere, apart from my cleaning duties. That way I cannot get into any kind of trouble because I have it.
CHAPTER SIX
-:- MAV -:-
It’s Saturday morning and I need to get my butt in gear, as I promised Jig I’d help him and Kenzie place furniture in their house. The house is damn awesome, but it needs a lot of furniture. I don’t care about that, it’s the amount of lifting I’m going to be doing to help move all that furniture as it’s delivered that’s worrying me.
Walking into the kitchen, I grab a bowl of oatmeal, toast, and a mug of coffee. Taking a seat near Knuckles and Jo, who are eating quietly, I turn my head as Mia gives an announcement.
“I just want you all to know that the twins are enrolled for kindergarten, and will start next week.” Mia is beaming, and we all know she’s proud of the twins, even though they are hellions now. Before anyone can give congratulations, the twins walk into the kitchen with Amelia behind them. They are both holding a teddy bear, which isn’t at all odd, until they lean them against the wall and start to dry hump them.
Mia squeals, stamps her foot and scans the room, coming to a stop when she looks at Knuckles and Jo. Jo has her head down, trying to look like she’s seen nothing, and it has nothing to do with her at all. Knuckles, however, is grinning at the twins' antics, and to everyone’s amazement he throws his head back, laughing.
Mia isn’t taking this well. She picks up the apple she’d placed next to her plate and throws it at Knuckles, missing him and hitting me on the shoulder. I jump to my feet, hold my hands in a surrendering fashion, and damn, I see Mia picking up anythingfrom the table she can and throwing it. Thankfully, missing me this time.
Jo jumps up from the table and runs out of the back door, leaving Knuckles to his fate. But to be fair, he isn’t worried at all. However, when Axel walks into the kitchen and sees Mia upset, Knuckles scurries out the back door after Jo.
I'm not hanging around here. I grab my dishes, take them to the drainer and leave them, quickly making my way out of the kitchen and over to Jig’s place. It’s got to be safer moving furniture than staying in this kitchen.
As I walk over to Jig’s house I can’t hold back the chuckle as I remember the twins humping the teddy bears. I can just imagine the fuckers are going to be competing when they get older. I’m not sure how Mia is going to survive the twins, but I hope Summer is a sweetie that doesn’t become a rootin’ tootin’ gun-toting redneck.
“Hi, Mav.” I look over to the new house and see Kenzie standing out front waving with the biggest smile on her face. BigDog of course, is next to her, watching for anything he may have to protect his momma from.
“Morning, Kenz.” I give her a hug and mess up the top of her head, which I know irritates the hell out of her. “I advise you to stay out of the clubhouse for now. I’m sure Mia is on the warpath, and keep clear of Knuckles and Jo too…”
“Oh, Jo and Knuckles are here.” Kenzie points over her shoulder towards the front door, and I sigh, knowing if they are caught here, Jig and Kenzie will get roped into the mess.
“What’s wrong?” Kenzie asks, and I whisper in her ear what happened in the kitchen. Looking up at me, I see the grin startto form before a full-on laugh bursts out of her. “Oh, my, I would have paid to see that. Poor Mia, she is going to have her hands full with those two, I’m sure.”
“I don’t think she is going to… I think she already has.” I can’t hold the smirk that forms until I hear grumbling and heavy footsteps behind me. Turning, my eyes widen when Mia is stomping over to us with a fucking cleaver in her hand.
“Come on, Mia, let me make you a chamomile tea.” Kenzie throws her arm around Mia’s shoulders with not a worry about the cleaver, and I stand well away because I don’t want my junk cut off, because Knuckles can’t keep his in his damn pants.
Jig steps out of the front door and gives a cautious look at Mia and Kenzie, but keeps quiet. I think he’s going to survive this, as he gives Mia a smile and steps over to me.
