“I’ve a fight on the weekend, so I’m getting some extra training in, you know, make sure I’m sharp.” Now, I’m not sure how she’ll react to fighting, but she knows I’m a doorman at the club and bar, so she should expect I can fight!

“Okay, but don’t get lots of bruises. Can I come to the fight and watch at the weekend?”

“No, but you can stay at the clubhouse with the others while we are at the fight. I’ll explain it all later, then you’ll understand what’s going on and why you need to stay out of the way and safe while the brothers are at this fight night.”

“Oh, alright. I’ll talk to you about it later. But come on, Mav, I’m going to be late and Liam will kick my ass.”

“If Liam touches your ass, he’ll be in a body bag,” I mumble.

“What’s that?” Blake asks, and I quickly reply, “Nothing, let’s go.”

CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX

-:- BLAKE -:-

Friday and it’s been busy. I know that the other new lady is wanting a few extra hours as she has a young son to provide for. I’m sure I’m going to want to work less hours now that the house Yax was living in will be sold. I want to spend time with Mav too, I love being with him, and I don’t want to get into that awful place I had with Stefan where we hardly saw each other. Mind you, my feelings for Mav are far different to any I had with Stefan so I can’t see that happening.

Liam walks into the kitchen as I finish stacking the clean dishes I’ve taken out of the dishwasher. “Time for your break, Blake.”

“Can I have a quick word, Liam?”

“Of course, what’s up?” He stops from where he was heading upstairs to his apartment.

“I’d like to drop my hours down as I’m getting very tired working the two jobs. Elaine needs more hours to help with her family, so she could take the days I drop. If it’s possible I’d like to remain working Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.”

Liam rubs his chin, and I wait for whatever he’s going to decide. I don’t want to lose my job but I can’t keep working all these hours, I’m tired out now, so what will I be like in another month!

“Yeah, you can do that. I’ll speak to Elaine. She did ask me about more hours, but I didn’t have any to spare for her, but if you only want three days I’ll offer her the others. You’re sure now?”

“Yes, I’m sure. I love working here, and my second job with the seniors, but I’m sure I can’t keep doing both with all these hours.”

“Okay, starting next week then. But if I need you to come in for any coffee mornings, and the like, I want you to be available for those.” Liam frowns, but I don’t have a problem with that.

“That’s fine, Liam, I can be available for any events you hold.”

Later Elaine gives me a hug and thanks me, but I thank her in return because I’d not be able to keep up all those hours indefinitely, but I sure wouldn’t want to leave anyone in the lurch either.

During my afternoon break my phone pings and a message catches my eye.

Mav: Fancy a night at the clubhouse tomorrow? So you can meet all the ladies.

My Blake: I’ve met them at the Coffee House, when they had the morning drinking, gossiping and looking after the kids. [smiling emoji]

Mav: Oh, I forgot about that. Well, we can have a chill night, because Sunday I’m fighting.

My Blake: What about you move into my house and we have a movie night instead, just the two of us.

Mav: Yeah, I can do that, and I was going to ask you about moving in. Do I have to speak to Bitty for permission [Laughing emoji]

My Blake: No, I’ll tell her and PawPaw.

Mav: Oh, I forgot about Ed, and being PawPaw. Well, the old fucker will have to live with it.

My Blake: He will be okay with it, but I do need to tell him.

Mav: OK. Catch you later, sweet cake. I’ll be around when you get home from work tonight.

My Blake: OK.
