“Okay,” I agreed.
“Good girl… see you later. Havoc is bringing you home.”
I sighed. “Well, I need to talk to you… I have to travel for work.”
“Negative.”
“Quasim, I have to…” I heard sirens in the background. “Are they behind you, Sim?”
He laughed. “Yeah, playing chicken with the cops keeps me young. See you later… ight?”
I took a deep breath because this man was going to cause me to have a heart attack. “Please be careful… please.” I stressed.
“Got you… love you.”
“Love you too, baby.” I ended the call.
Havoc and Syn were both signing to each other, and she kept smirking and cutting her eyes at him. When she did the ‘fuck you’ sign, I didn’t know where the conversation was going because he signed something back to her, and she blushed.
“Are we closing for the day?”
I nodded as I gathered up everything I needed to leave. “Since the next class isn’t for a few hours, just send out an email that something happened on our street, and we’ll be closed for the next two weeks. This block is going to be a mad house anyway.”
“Hey, Blair,” We both got low when we heard a voice come through the speakers. It wasn’t until I realized it was Aimee’s voice.
“Aimee, what the hell?”
“Just sweeping these cameras and such… yours is on the chopping block. Just popped in to say hey… are you coming to the lake house?”
“I am.”
“Perfect… we’re going to swim in the lake and have drinks… well virgin for me.” It was Aimee having a full conversation as she was hacking my security system for me.
That woman was so damn smart and such an asset to the family. Core was teaching her and Skyler everything that he knew. Usually, it would have been Core talking to me, but Aimee knew enough to wipe street cameras and the local business cameras, too.
Syn seemed excited. “Do you want to come? We have an extra room at the house you can stay in?”
She jumped up and down. “Hell yeah. I love swimming… can we stop at my house to grab some stuff?”
Havoc remained quiet as he watched us both. “See you later, Aim.”
“Later.”
I found out as we were leaving out the back that Core had routed all the calls to keep the cops away from the block so we could get off without being stopped.
Havoc’s truck was in the back of the studio. He drove a Chevrolet Silverado that you had to climb into. If anything, I think he had Meer beat with the height because it was so big. He helped both me and Syn get into the truck.
I sat in the back and allowed them to do their thing in the front. “You know you don’t have to sit in silence because you’re deaf… listen to music.”
When she turned the music on, a country song came on and she looked at Havoc. “You love country music?”
He smirked. “Yeah.”
Syn smiled. “Can I play you my favorite country song?”
He nodded, and she connected her phone, pulling her legs up into the chair to sit Indian style, and put on a Shaboozey song.
She started dancing in the seat while doing a lasso motion, singing along to the song. The music was at a low volume, and she was still jamming to it. “I can’t even hear it back here.”
