"You have Carolina, Tori, and Kylie," I pointed out.
Scarlett nodded. "But now we have Dakota and you. It's even better."
"What are we going to do about Killian? He's a bear right now. He's staying in the penthouse. But I'm worried he's going to scare off all the guests in the hotel," Clara said.
"Eli is worried about him. He sat at the bar last night and drank, complaining about his doctors and physical therapists. Saying they won't let him work out, when it's clear that he's in no condition to be on a mountain."
Clara shook her head. "The boys seem to think that assigning Noelle as his personal assistant will help. She'll get him anything he needs, and they used to be friends."
Scarlett exchanged a look with me. "I'm not so sure about that. Something happened between them, but she won't tell us."
"Noelle is private," I added.
"I think the boys just want someone else to deal with him. I feel bad for Noelle and the poor physical therapist who has to work with him. He thinks he can just do his own workout without any assistance. He doesn't want to listen to his doctors, and he's going to hurt himself even more."
"Killian's a big boy. He'll come around," Scarlett said with more confidence than any of us felt.
"He's used to being on the slopes and surrounded by adoring fans. He won't find that here," Clara said.
Scarlett smiled. "Maybe this will be good for him and force him and Noelle to figure out whatever happened between them."
I wondered if they'd engaged in a one-night stand or a relationship but kept it a secret. It seemed like something Noelle would do. I'd never seen her really date anyone. She always said she was too busy, but what if she just kept it quiet?
Clara disappeared into the dining room.
Scarlett lowered her voice. "Are you thinking what I am?"
"That Noelle needs to come to terms with whatever happened between her and Killian?"
Scarlett grinned. "I think some matchmaking is in order."
"We don't know that they even dated or liked each other. They were friends." Or at least that's what Noelle always said.
Scarlett chewed her lip. "Killian dated the popular girls in school, and I think it bothered her."
"And what? Maybe one day he realized he liked her? This isn't a rom-com."
"Maybe they didn't want to mess up their friendship, but something happened, and it did anyway."
"That's quite a theory. Have you been watching a lot of romance movies?" I asked her.
Scarlett sighed. "Possibly. But it makes for a nice story."
"But we could be wrong, and Noelle wouldn't like us talking about her."
"She'd hate it. But what if a little meddling meant a happily-ever-after? It worked for us, and now you."
"I wouldn't jump to a happily-ever-after for me yet. I don't know if this is permanent or not."
Scarlett gave me a look. "Please. I see the way he looks at you, and Dakota adores you."
"That's sweet." I loved that they wanted to spend time with me.
We played some games after dinner, and when Dakota was tired, we headed home. Dakota hugged us, and then said she was going to bed.
"I'm exhausted," I said as I plopped onto the couch.
Walker wiggled his brows. "You don't want to play around in the bedroom?"
