“In the garage behind a locked door.”
“Get off me before I actually start killing you,” Viggo snarled, reaching his breaking point.
“You will forget about this entire conversation,” I ordered, my voice hard. “You will not remember that I entranced you. You don’t know that I can entrance vampires. Understand?”
“Yes.”
I blinked, releasing my hold over him. He sagged down for a moment before scrambling back, getting his bearings.
“What’s going on?” he snapped, his eyes growing big when he looked behind me.
I spun around to see Viggo shoving his way through a wall of Shadows. At least four of them were on the floor with their necks broken. He hadn’t murdered any of them, but if looks could kill, I’d be dead. I didn’t think I’d ever seen him so furious.
“Stop,” I called out. “Let him through.”
Viggo’s chest heaved as he stormed toward me, his fists clenched tight. “What the hell was that?”
“What was what?” I asked innocently.
His eyes swung to Jasper for a moment before focusing back on me. “You shouldn’t have done that. You’re going to get yourself killed. Then Zan is going to kill me.”
I patted his arm, making him scowl. “I’m not doing anything, Viggo. Just training the Shadows like your father wants.”
He pressed his lips together, forcing himself to remain quiet. I was sure he’d heard every word I said to Jasper. He ran hishands through his hair, letting out a string of curses as he strode to the exit.
“Let’s go,” he said tightly. “We’re going back to the house.”
Jasper had already grabbed the human’s arm and was following Viggo. I gave Rya a wide smile before leaving. I was lighter than I had since my birthday. Power was still thrumming through me, and I welcomed it with open arms.
There wasn’t any going back now.
Chapter 15
Zan
“He shouldn’t be here,” Pax mumbled, shooting Warner a glare. “We don’t even know if we can trust him.”
“It must be difficult since you can’t entrance me anymore,” Warner tossed back, crossing his arms.
“Enough,” I growled. “Warner knows not to lie to us. Don’t you?”
It was early evening with the sun setting slowly, and I didn’t miss his jaw clenching as he remained silent. Amaros had a long conversation with him before we left the property. My father made it very clear to both meandWarner that if we didn’t succeed, it would be Kali who paid the price.
“It’s been five days we’ve been out here waiting,” Pax said with a shake of his head. “Maybe they stopped coming.”
“They didn’t,” Warner snapped. “This tree is how they get messages to Clovers outside of Project Hope. It’s where Kali left the note before they raided your city. They don’t check it every day.”
My mind wandered back to the days when Kali first entered my city. Back then, it had been so much simpler. Before myfather was involved. Before we knew Kali was a Shadow. I wanted those days back.
My heart clenched. Knowing that Kali was back on the property was driving me insane. The last week had been the longest in my damn life. But my father’s entrancement made sure I didn’t go back to the property, no matter how badly I wanted to.
“And what happens if the Clover who comes can’t be entranced?” Pax ground out, pulling me from my thoughts.
“Then we use force,” I answered. “We’re getting into Project Hope one way or another.”
We’d been stalking the forest for nearly the last week, waiting for a Clover to come check their messenger tree. The tunnel going into the city wasn’t an option since the Clovers sealed it off.
“You hear that?” Pax turned his head to the left.
