Did he do this?I ask myself in disbelief. What a question. It’s obvious he’s the one behind it. But how can one boy do this? There have to be over a hundred bodies here.
“Alejandro…” Rafael murmurs, his face paling as he looks at the carnage before him.
“Brother,” Alejandro drawls out a puff of smoke slowly as he looks up at the sky that peeps out from the trees.
“Why are you naked?” Elijah asks sharply. Rafael visibly tenses and I frown. Elijah is right, he’s too young to shift. So why is he naked? Alejandro simply smirks humourlessly.
“Oh? Well since everyone was stripping and showing what they’re packing, I thought I’d join the party… and it seems although I still have a few years to grow, I’m already winning in that department,” he taunts, shamelessly glancing at his brother’s and Elijah’s cocks.
My cheeks heat, I hadn’t looked down. Being a shifter you kind of get used to keeping your eyes up. The older two men simply frown at him while I make sure I don’t look down past his chest, growling at him at the insult he just tossed at Elijah, who is definitely huge. I know that for a fact!
Elijah glances at me but I refuse to look at him, still glaring at the naked teen.
“Easy there, just stating facts,” Alejandro says mockingly. But before I can reply, a few men from ours and Rafael’s pack show up, scanning the scene before their eyes go to Elijah and the body in his arms. A few from the Blood Moon Pack recognise their trainer and Head Warrior, their expressions only tearing at the wound within me. Their faces fall as they slowly walk over, passing the men pants and tossing Alejandro a pair before they take Liam’s body from Elijah with care and sadness clear on their faces.
Liam… so many people loved you.
“Get this place cleaned up,” Rafael growls at Alejandro, who simply raises an eyebrow as he pulls the pants on.
“I did my part, you do the fucking rest,” he counters coldly, his eyes flashing. Just like they had back at his pack! They did change, I didn’t imagine that red. Not this time. My heart thumps and I wonder what exactlyisthe boy before me? But it’s fleeting, lasting for less than a second before he turns and walks off.
Rafael signals his men to start cleaning, and Elijah does thesame, ordering the remaining men to help. He then looks at Rafael.
“I won’t ask what you’re hiding. I owe you a lot already.”
Rafael gives him a grateful smile. “You owe me nothing. We’re friends. But thank you, I appreciate you not pushing for an answer,” he says quietly as they place a hand on each other’s shoulders. They make great allies.
“Thank you for everything. You lost your men because of me. Thank you,” Elijah says as Rafael smiles sadly.
“I’m just glad your Luna is safe. I’m happy that you two turned out to be mates. You look good together. I hope you get to meet my fated soon too.”
I smile. “Thank you, Alpha Rafael, I’d like that.”
“Anytime, Luna. Or should I say, Alpha Scarlett?” he remarks with a smirk, lifting the mood a little as Elijah pulls me into his arms. It is finally over.
We’ve won.
Night has fallen, but theAlpha mansion of the Desert Storm Pack is ablaze with lights. We have moved everyone out of the appalling packhouse, most of whom were omegas, placing the severely injured into the pack hospital with those who have any health care knowledge taking care of them. A few doctors from Rafael’s pack and another neighbouring pack have come to assist with the injured.
The neighbouring pack, the Crescent Rose Pack, was pretty relieved to hear Zidane is dead. Although they weren’t part of the attack, they were happy to help when they learned that he is no longer the one in charge.
He’s really dead. It still feels so surreal. At times, it feels like he’s going to suddenly show up alive and be lusting for revenge. But he’s really gone. I killed him.
We gathered our dead whilst the other pack alphas and Rafael bid us farewell, taking their men and the bodies of their lost pack members with them.
After all, their mates and families are waiting for them. I apologised once more for the loss they all suffered, knowing I would never be able to face their mates who have to go through so much.
Rafael was the last to leave, and we really owe him.
Mama had called. She was a sobbing mess, glad I was ok and relieved that he is dead. Dad is already on his way back, returning with the bodies of our dead.
I now wrap my arms around myself. Even in the soft fleecy top I wear, it is chilly. I walk over to the table where Aaron and Elijah are discussing something in the garden of the mansion.
“…eleven from the Silver Fang Pack and twenty-nine from the Crimson Moon Pack,” Elijah is saying, a deep frown on his face. “Rafael lost fifteen…”
“And we lost forty-five,” Aaron says, sighing deeply. Both men look up as I approach. The cold wind blows around us, but since all the rooms are occupied, discussing this outside is best. There are some things it’s best that the pack members don’t know. Elijah pulls me close, kissing my lips softly before hugging me tightly.
“In total, how many dead combined?” I ask.
