They laugh and nod their agreement, and I wonder if Elijah’s really ok with this, he did suggest it but… I squash my thoughts for now and thank the Galans.

“Kiara is a beautiful name, though,” I admit, and Elijah nods as he takes his seat beside me again.

“It is,” he agrees.

We sit for a while longer before we take our leave. Stepping out into the fresh air, we walk in silence before I tilt my head, pursing my lips thoughtfully.

“Are you ok with naming our son Liam? Like truly?” I asksoftly. I wondered if he had suggested it for me.

He comes to a stop and turns to face me. “Of course. I wouldn’t have mentioned it if I wasn’t. It’s a decision that will be with us for life.”

“Your comment-”

“Was just that, a comment, and I didn’t mean it with any bitterness.” He throws his head back and stares at the sky as a soft wind blows through his sandy-coloured curls. “Liam was my brother, and he gave up his life so I could keep you, so if I have to name every child we ever have in honour of him, I would be willing. Because he protected you with his life.”

“Elijah…”

He looks down at me, and I see the emotions in those glittering eyes. “He couldn’t have his future, the one he deserved. So, I’m all for it. Liam and Kiara. Those are our pups’ names and they’re perfect.”

My chest tightens and I nod, unable to speak as I throw my arms around his waist and bury my head in his chest. He’s right…

His arms wrap around me and he holds me in his warm embrace as we both simply remain in one another’s arms.

The sacrifices of those who died for us will always be a reminder to cherish the time that we have.

And I will.

Always.

“I love you, Kitten.”

“I love you too, baby.”

The Attack

Elijah

Two and a half years later

“Oopsie.” Kiara giggles as Liam slides off the bed and lands on the floor with a thud. He pouts, jumping to his feet, his big, blue, cerulean eyes wide as he looks at his sister with an expression of sorrow.

“Kia, don’t laugh me.”

“I’m sorry, I will help you.” She holds her hand out to him as she drags him onto the bed and they both begin jumping on the bed again. I watch in amusement as they hold hands and jump up and down.

“Alright, both of you, your mama wanted me to put you to bed. So come on, in bed, now,” I remind them, unable to stop myself from smiling at my pups.

Kiara’s sandy blond hair is like mine, but her eyes are a mix of both mine and Scarlett’s. They’re stunning, a sage green, with a cerulean ring around them. Her eyes are so unique, and so beautiful, but for some reason she’s unable to see in the dark. It’s not something we’ve ever heard of in werewolves before, and wethink maybe once she shifts that her wolf will cure that, as she will gain the sight of her wolf.

Liam, on the other hand, has pale strawberry-blond hair like his mama, with eyes like mine. They’re both fucking perfect.

“We don’t want to sleep, Daddy,” Liam tells me in a matter-of-fact voice. But his soft expression and gentle smile soften what he’s attempting as a firm statement.

“I know you don’t, but you have to.”Because I want to spend some time with my Kitten.

“Ok, Daddy, but what if I close my eyes and then can’t open them?” Kiara whispers.

I raise an eyebrow. “That won’t happen. Now come on, in bed.” I go over to Liam’s bed and pull back the bedding, motioning him to get in. He hugs his sister, kissing her cheek.
