I’ll head to the packhouse and just shower there. We have a meeting to coordinate some last-minute backup plans. I take my phone out, texting Scarlett when I hear running from behind.
“Elijah!”
My brows furrow as I try to remain calm.
What does she want?
“What is it?” I ask curtly, keeping my tone cold. How many times do I need to make it clear we are nothing? I’m just her future Alpha. She doesn’t need to talk to me.
“Elijah, why are you-”
“Alpha Elijah; we’re not friends, Fiona.”
She flinches, wrapping her arms around herself as if she’s a fucking victim here. “What did I do to earn your hatred?”
“We’re not having this conversation. I made it clear we are nothing, so why the fuck do you think I should give you an explanation?” I snarl.
“Elijah, we were more-”
I laugh coldly, “We weren’t! You were nothing more than a pastime, one that I regret. Now get the hell out of my face.” I turn away, not wanting to talk to her. I know how Scarlett feels about her being around me and I’m not about to entertain her in conversation in the middle of the woods, alone.
“Elijah, I love you!”
I swivel on my heels, my eyes flashing. “I’m in love withScarlett, or have you forgotten? She is my mate and we have fucking marked one another. What the fuck do you think you’re doing? Last fucking chance, Fiona. Drop it.” My voice is more animalistic than human.
I turn away once again and walk away when suddenly I hear her rushing at me, and I know exactly what she’s about to do. Turning, I growl at her, stopping her before she can fling her arms around me, breaking into sobs.
“Eli- Alpha…” She reaches out for me.
“Don’t ever call me that again. Don’t ever fucking try to touch me again,” I snarl, my Alpha command making her whimper.
The sound of footsteps makes me turn to see none other than Scarlett, her eyes glimmering with irritation as she storms over to us, her eyes simmering silver.
Scarlett
Elijah left me satisfied, buthe didn’t seem to care that he was supporting a hard-on himself. I promised myself I’d make it up to him later. His morning treat left me feeling content, and I fell into a deep sleep despite his absence from beside me.
I slept in until Mama called for me to get up and I reluctantly got out of bed, showering before telling her I won’t be having breakfast as I wanted to go pay Grandma Amy a visit.
We are leaving for the Black Storm Pack tomorrow morning and I want to see her before I leave. She probably knows we’re mates already, but I want to tell her myself, too. After all, she was one of the first to know and not judge.
I am walking along, lost in thought about how tomorrow will go when I catch the sound of a heated argument up ahead. I stop, frowning when I realise it’s Elijah and… Fiona?
Does the woman seriously not get a hint?
My eyes flash as I hear Elijah growl at her, making her break into sobs. Taking a few more steps, they come into view and I shake my head. I am fed up with her constant tears. I can see she’s trying to reach out to touch him.
That’s my man.
I stride over to them, my eyes blazing, and grab Fiona by her arm and wrench her away from Elijah, my eyes a steely silver as I glare at her.
“You know… I gave you a clear warning. Stay. Away. From. My. Man.” My voice is cold, my Alpha aura surrounding me, making Fiona look at Elijah fearfully. He simply shakes his head, irritation clear in his eyes.
“I think I’ll let your Luna deal with you,” he says to her.I’m sorry you got to deal with this shit again.
Leaning over, he grips my chin and kisses me sensually. “I’ll see you later. I’m heading to the packhouse to organise our team.”
“See you later,” I reply, all the while not letting go of Fiona’s arm. I watch Elijah walk off before turning my gaze back to Fiona. “I warned you…”
