I looked up at Morgan. “What did Addie name her?”
She rolled her eyes. “Nikko, after the leader of the flying monkeys on the Wizard of Oz.”
I laughed. “Are you serious?”
She rolled her eyes again. “Her birthday party theme was evil queens and evil stepmothers, so yeah, I’m serious.”
I chuckled. “That sounds like our girl.”
I stood and she smiled up at me. “You can wake her up if you want.”
“Can I really?” My heart sped up then my eyes darted down to her stomach again. “Wow, twins huh?” I felt kind of guilty.
“Do you ever do anything half ass, Creed?” She asked and I laughed before I pulled her into me. Damn, she had to be uncomfortable, and she still had a ways to go. I couldn’t believe I got her pregnant. Those were my kids inside her. It was insane.
“Not if I can help it.” I lowered my head and kissed her again. I let my fingers run through her damp but soft hair. Holy shit I missed her like crazy. I lifted my head and looked down at her. “I’m dying to see my daughter.”
“Then let’s go.” She took my hand and led me upstairs. My eyes were peeled on that ass, and I couldn’t wait to touch it. She might have been huge, but she was sexier than ever. It was like I had a brand new body to explore all over again. I could see the outline of her fine ass as she took steps very slowly.
We made it to Addie’s room, and I quietly tiptoed over to her bed and gently sat down. She looked so peaceful and as adorable as ever. My heart ached for her to hold on to me like a little monkey again. I couldn’t wait to hold her. I softly pushed some blond hair behind her ear then leaned over to whisper a line from Cinderella I memorized from reading it so many times. “Be kind, have courage, and believe in a little magic.”
I leaned back up and her little eyes fluttered open. Slowly she turned her little head and studied my face with the little bit of light shining in from the hallway. Her eyes grew suddenly. “Daddy?”
I took a sharp breath. “Believe in a little magic.” I whispered again and tears spilled from my eyes as she raced from under the covers and held tightly on to me, just like my little monkey.
“I missed you every single day, Addie.”
I felt her hiccup, so I knew she was crying. “Daddy save us. I told dose kids, daddy did it. Da news day doe.” She hiccupped again. “Day didn’t sway Cweed, but I know it wad my daddy.” I sobbed as I kissed her little head. “We safe now. Don’t weave eber again, Otay?”
I nodded. “I will try my hardest. The Army said I don’t have to go anymore.”
“I told mommy if dose tings that make her so fat wad nasty boys, we were going to get a new mommy.”
I burst out laughing through my tears. “We are not getting a new mommy, and if they are boys you will learn to love them.”
She started whispering to herself. “We don’t punch daddies because we wub dem. We don’t punch daddies because we wub dem.” She was talking herself down and I laughed even harder.
“Don’t you love me, Uncle Weston, and Uncle Karter? What about Uncle Josh and Uncle Mike, and Uncle Patrick and Uncle Darren? We were all nasty boys once.”
She still was holding on to me for dear life and the pain was totally worth it.
“All dem but Wedson. He a big baby.”
I laughed.
She was wide awake, so I stood with her in my arms and looked at Morgan who was silently crying. I walked toward her and pecked her lips before walking downstairs. I only had one good arm, and my ribs and body hurt like hell, but I dealt with it.
Everyone was still outside except Tanner. He kissed his daughters cheek. “Everyone is clearing out for the night. Axton gave us clearance to go home, but he also wanted you to know he has a few operatives watching from the outside tonight. Melissa has decided to go ahead and spend her first night at her place, so it’s all yours.” He looked at me. “I would shake your hand, but well, you don’t have one.”
I laughed. “That’s fine, thanks a lot, Tanner.”
“No, thank you. You’re one hell of a hero, Creed. If not to the world then to these two young ladies.” He then looked at his daughter. “His pain medication is in the bag Axton gave me. I left it in the kitchen.”
“Thanks, daddy.” Morgan kissed his cheek before he kissed Addie’s
“Bye bye, papaw. Tell mamaw I wub her.”
“I will, my little monkey. I’ll see you soon and maybe we can get ice cream.” He winked at Addie then turned to walk away. I couldn’t believe that man was about to be my father in law. He was way too young, and I had operatives older than him.
