If I knew my fiancé, there was a snack shelf calling my name. I opened the door and found an empty cookie jar. “Da nasty monsters in mommy’s belly ate dem all.” Addie pouted and I chuckled.

“I can make some more. If I knew you were coming…” I quickly placed my lips on Morgan’s.

“You’re going to sit and let me take care of you.” I whispered against her lips.

I found some Graham crackers and pulled out the milk. All three of us sat at the table and listened to all of Addie’s stories about school, the bunker, Uncle Josh being annoying, how she punched my brother, and how Nikko was a good girl. She was finally getting tired, so I took her upstairs and read her a story. When she finally wore out, I went for a shower then crawled into bed with my future wife. That was when I noticed she was crying as she looked down at her ring.

“Don’t you like it? We can choose a different one.” I kissed her cheek then looked down at her.

She shook her head. “I was so focused on us that I just now looked at it.” She hiccupped. “It’s the biggest Cartier I’ve ever seen. You know me so well.” She hiccupped again. “And it fits my sausage fingers.” She sobbed and I used my good arm to pull her into me. “You didn’t have to spend that much, but it’s beautiful. I absolutely love it.” I knew my spoiled girl all too well.

I chuckled and kissed her cheek. “Addie and I picked it up in California.”

She sobbed again. “I’m so uncomfortable with how well she keeps secrets.”

I laughed. “She’s smart and sweet, with a little touch of evil which makes her perfect.”

Morgan wiped a tear away. “She’s the cutest and sweetest little asshole and I love her so much.”

I threw my head back and laughed. She was right, she did punch people for almost no reason. Mostly because they hadpenises. “Don’t ask me how, but she’s a perfect combination of us.”

She wiped more tears away and nodded. “She’s beautiful and brave. She’s also a fighter and a lover. She’s a dream and I wish Callie were here to see her thrive.”

“I have it on good authority that Callie watches her every single day. I also think Callie is very proud of you. I know I am.” I kissed the top of her head.

She tried sitting up, but I ended up helping by using my good arm to push her up. “I need to see these injuries of yours.”

“Well, you saw my cast, the stitches in my hairline, and the bruises. I promise to shave the beard as soon as I feel like the bruises under it are healed.”

She doubted me. “These are not all your injuries.” She lifted my shirt then gasped as she looked at my abdomen. She lifted her hand to cover her mouth, and more tears flowed. “So many bruises. Were you stabbed again?”

I shrugged. “Barely, it was just a flesh wound.”

“Either tell me about all of these or I’m taking off these bandages and finding out for myself.”

“Morgan...”

“Don’t Morgan me, I deserve to know, Creed.”

“You’re pregnant and don’t need more to upset you.” I reached up and felt her now dry hair.

“They told me you were brain dead, that Axton was going to Germany to pull the plug, and you were coming home in a fucking box. I survived that and so did the babies, so you better start talking.”

I sighed. “Fine, since you put it that way.” I pointed at my chest. “Grazed by a bullet across my left tit. Fucker almost took off my nipple.” I pointed at the different areas. “Sliced open here, burned with a hot poker in these six places, shot in the upper right thigh but it was another graze. Hit by a fucking tire in the head, which took off my helmet and gave me a concussion. My arm was crushed under a Humvee. I was punched in the ribs and kicked in the kidneys. Oh, and I also have a broken toe. See, I’m fine. Pendleton was given bad information. I was in that transport vehicle, but it was another officer that needed CPR and died. I was in and out of consciousness because I had a hell of a head injury.”

She glared at me. “You’re fine?”

“Yeah, the guys kicked the shit out of them. You should have seen Bolton. I saw her shove a…” She placed a finger over my lips.

“I don’t need to hear that part.”

My eyes grew. “But it’s the coolest part! Okay, fine. They got me out on a black hawk and took me back the garrison where they patched me up and let me go home. I am to report to Washington in a few weeks, but I’m letting them know my wife can’t travel and they can either wait or do it via video call.”

“Your wife, huh?” She pecked my lips.

“I am so marrying you right away. We can have the wedding of your dreams later, but these babies will be born into wedlock.” I hissed as I sat up then gently laid her down as she giggled.

“Since I played show and tell, it’s your turn. I want to see how beautiful our children are making this gorgeous body of yours.”
