Fall came and went, and it grew really cold. I spent holidays smoking, drinking, and pissing people off. Still, it was better than sitting at home, where the atmosphere was stuffy. We’d come up with new stuff all the time—rebellious teenage shits thinking themselves oh so adult.
When it came to our bet and Abigail, we kept pestering her closest friend for a while. Her name was Victoria and she lived in the same apartment block. I wanted her to introduce me to her friend. Myro started running after Victoria. It looked like he was really getting to like her. Anyway, after some convincing, she told us she’d try but couldn’t promise anything. Abbs might get pissed. Well, considering the guys’ earlier clowning around, talking shit about her from the car with other people watching, I realized our chances were slim. Stan was too occupied at the time, so I couldn’t press the matter with him either.
“Hey, Ve, maybe we get one of them here, and then she’d bring her friend. What if we try getting that Lizzy to do it?” Philip proposed.
“Not such a bad idea, Phil. You know where she hangs out? This may actually work.”
“I’ve seen her at Edge Vibe once. Maybe that’s a place to start?”
Edge Vibe was the local club, split into rooms with different music. It was known across the whole country, making our sad little town pretty famous. Any big party brought crowds from all across.
“It’s a thought.”
Unfortunately, our plan misfired. Despite going to Edge Vibe about a dozen times, we never came across Lizzy. Both me and Philip finally started giving up on the girls.
Close to a month later, when the topic of Abigail and Lizzy was all but forgotten, the circumstances began to change.
It’s Valentine’s Day, and I’m standing with Ted and Walters by the school. We’re fooling around like always, taking the piss out of all those chicks following us with their eyes, when suddenly I realize I can’t hear their voices anymore. One sense has overtaken all the others. My eyes freeze, staring at one single point. It’s her. Jesus, she’s gorgeous! I’m just so into that girl… I watch her, taking a drag of my cigarette. She seems engaged in her conversation with that neighbor of hers we used to pester. Now she’s walking towards us, wearing a short winter blazer and flared red pants, closely fitting her round ass. With the gray, drab weather that has taken over the town for the entire season, that mix is provocative, to say the least. I see nothing. Only those red pants. She raises her eyes, and I can see it in her stare: she’s fighting a battle inside her head—turn around and flee or continue walking? I can’t blame her. The guys really got under her skin, but I wasn’t part of that, was I? The fact remains, though, and now she probably sees me as one of them. I’m standing with my back against the short wall and watching, waiting for her next step.Come on, don’t back out now,I’m thinking. That’s when she makes her decision. Her stance changes into one more… aggressive? She whispers something to her friend, who replies with a shocked expression on her face. My hearing returns. The neighbor is calling me.
“Hey, Victoria,” I say as my eyes dart towards Abigail, pinning her in place. I’m using this short moment to have a good look at her. She has cute freckles. I haven’t seen them before, maybe because I was entirely absorbed by her eyes. I feel like I’m drowning in those emerald eyes.
“I heard you wanted to meet me.”
Shocked out of my reverie by the sound of her voice and following the movement of her lips, I reply: “You heard correct.”
“Great, let’s get this over with. I’m Abigail, or Abby or Gail.” As she says this, she extends a hand.
“Ve,” I bark in response, shaking her hand. I feel a jolt, a shock as our fingers touch. It courses through my body acouple of times, each wave ending in my dick. Her skin is soft. I think she feels the same thing, that same energy. She withdraws her hand quickly.
“And your name?” she asks. I have to stop gaping.
“It’s just Ve.” I smirk.
“Have it your way, Ve.” Her melodious voice reaches my ears again. “It’s nice to meet you.”
I’m doing my best not to gawk, but I can’t help myself. That energy emanating from her—the voice, the eyes, the lips—it’s all drawing me in, and I can’t control it. She’s puzzled by the intensity of my stare. She says:
“Now forgive me, but Vicks and I are in a hurry, so… have a good one. See you around.”
“Yeah, see you,” I reply. For another while, I’m rooted to the spot, watching her leave and following the swaying of her roundbutt with my eyes. She’s perfect, cute as hell. Maybe a bit too short, but she has perfect proportions.
“Hey, Ve, you there?” Ted walks over and waves a hand in my face. “Earth to Ve!”
“Yeah, yeah,” I mumble.
Until the end of the day, I can’t get my head around what just happened. My thoughts keep meandering along a new, riveting trail—the path of Abby!
Chapter 3
Connor
It has been a month since I met Abbs, and I haven’t been able to catch her anywhere.
I haven’t tried church. That would be too in your face. Besides, I haven’t exactly been in the mood for prayer lately.
In the evening me and the guys are in the Den. Stan pops by.
“Yo, bros, what’s up?”
