“Maybe it was,” she said, pushing away from him again. “Time to get out.”
He let her swim to shore, then watched as she climbed out of the water and stood dripping on the shore in the moonlight waiting for him, a seductive smile on her face. Anticipation thundered through him, making his entire body begin to hum with need, and he finally climbed out of the water, walked over to her, and scooped her up into his arms.
“No more games, my beauty,” he said. “I want you writhing under me in pleasure as I take you, and nothing is going to stop me now.”
CHAPTER 19
***MAX***
Nora shivered as Max carried her over to the fire, then gently set her down on her feet. Grabbing a towel, he slowly dried her off, following the path of the towel over her body with his mouth. By the time he slowly lowered her down onto the cushions next to the fire, her breath was coming in short gasps and all he wanted was to sink himself into her welcoming heat, but he held back. After drying himself, he threw a few more logs onto the fire, then sank down next to her and covered her body with his.
He captured her mouth in a sizzling kiss that awakened both the passion between them and the creature inside him, making the bond between them come to life instantly. Nora moaned and shifted restlessly under him, but he continued to kiss her until, with a whimper, she pulled away from him. Her eyes locked on his, she reached down and captured his swollen manhood in her hand and began to stroke him, sending waves of pleasure rushing through him and making him groan her name.
He took the exquisite torture for as long as he could, then stilled her hand before pulling it up to his mouth and kissingher palm. “That feels incredible, too incredible,” he said, then rolled on top of her again and began to kiss his way down her body, his hands toying with her breasts and hard nipples.
After sucking each of them into his mouth and teasing Nora with his teeth until she was trembling, he slipped further down her body, then between her legs. Gently pushing her legs open, he kissed the inside of her thighs, making her gasp with anticipation, and threaded her fingers into his hair. Dipping his head even further, he spread her legs a little more, then slid his tongue over her swollen nib. Nora’s hips came up off the cushions, a cry of pleasure escaping from her chest into the night.
He lavished her with attention, sending her climbing higher and higher until she burst with a final cry of pleasure, her body trembling, her fingers pulling his hair. His manhood throbbing for satisfaction, he lapped at her until she stilled with a huge sigh, then climbed back up her body. He found her mouth and kissed her until she was squirming under him and whimpering with need, then flipped her onto her stomach and pulled her up on her hands and knees.
Anticipation thundering through him, he slipped between Nora’s legs, nudged them open with his knees, then grabbed her by the hips and buried himself inside her. Her body closed around him instantly, clenching his throbbing manhood so tightly that waves of pleasure radiated through him until she was all he could think of. Nora cried out his name over and over as he joined them time and time again, his body fitting so perfectly inside hers that they were both propelled into a state of pure sensation.
Overwhelmed by the feelings, his magic spiking with each thrust of his hips only intensifying the feeling, his control evaporated, and he let go, emptying himself inside her with a roar that echoed through the clearing. Nora followed him into ecstasy, her body closing tightly aroundhis as her muscles spasmed with her pleasure, pulling him deeper inside her and creating another tidal wave of sensation inside him.
When they were both spent, he collapsed onto his side, taking Nora with him, still buried deeply inside her, his breath coming in short gasps. It was a long time before they managed to catch their breath, but they still didn’t move, both too stunned by the depth of their passion to do more than lay there in the afterglow.
When Nora’s skin finally began to cool, he slowly separated them, then got to his feet and held out his hand. “We should go inside,” he said. “You’re getting cold.”
“I don’t know if I can walk,” she said, smiling up at him, her eyes still hazy with passion. “Maybe we should just stay here.”
“I’m not done with you, Mrs. St. Clair,” he said, pulling her up. “And what I have in mind requires a bed; come along like a good girl.”
She laughed. “Just this once,” she said, letting him lead her over to the tent. “But don’t push it, Mr. St. Clair.”
“Oh, sweetheart, I intend to push it every chance I get,” he said, grinning at her. “There’s nothing I like more than seeing that spark of anger in your eyes; it makes me want you even more, and now I can have you any time I want.”
Nora opened her mouth, ready to give him a saucy comeback, but they stepped into the tent, and her words died on a sigh. “Oh, Max, look at what they did,” she said, walking over to the bed and running her hands over the soft blanket. “There are flowers and everything, it’s perfect.”
He walked over to her and pulled her into his arms. “Just like you,” he said, gently pushing her down onto the bed and covering his body with hers. Now about those plans I had for you, I detected some resistance. Should we discuss it further?”
Nora opened her mouth, but his hand was already between her legs, and all that came out was a sigh of pleasure when he found her nib, still slick and wet. “Later,” she finally managed to gasp. “Can’t talk now.”
“Hmm…I think I just figured out a way to keep you quiet,” he said, slipping one finger inside her. “Unless you object to this.”
His only answer was a groan, then Nora pulled him down and kissed him, shutting him up as well. Hours later, they fell asleep tangled together, exhausted and sated, the sound of the waterfall in the background as the island absorbed the magic still flowing from Max. Deep in the cave, the ancient stone shone brightly as it stored the energy generated by their love, absorbing each wave of power until the small cavern was as bright as daylight.
***Nora***
As the first rays of sunlight began to brighten the horizon, Nora woke still entangled in Max’s arms and snuggled down deeper, not ready to give up the wonderful sensation of lying next to him. Feeling the ring on her finger, she let it fully sink in that she was married, not to the horrible man her father had picked out for her, but to man she truly loved with all her heart and soul. She knew how lucky she was, how different her future could have been if Max hadn’t come into her life, and promised herself that she’d never take her happiness for granted or squander the gift she’d been given.
Sliding her hand down to her stomach, it seemed impossible that her happiness could be even greater, but now the thought of having Max’s child filled her with a giddy kind of anticipation. A whole new world had opened up to her, and she was filled with hope for the first time in a long time. She wasn’t fool enough to think that life would always be soperfect, but she was certain that together, she and Max could overcome any obstacle they faced.
The thought filled her with warmth and she sighed, loving the feeling. “What are you thinking about over there?” Max asked sleepily, nuzzling her neck. “You’re getting me all warm and tingly.”
She felt his erection against her leg and laughed. “I think you’re a little more than warm and tingly,” she said, shifting so she was facing him. “I was just thinking about how lucky I am. Everything could have turned out so differently if you hadn’t come into my life, even if you were a big jerk at the beginning.”
“You scared me, sweetheart. I told myself that I was ready. I knew it was coming, after all,” he said. “But I wasn’t prepared for you. I had no idea what it was going to feel like when it actually happened, and I didn’t understand how deeply you were going to affect me. I’m the one who’s lucky. You could have slipped through my fingers so easily, and I would have only had myself to blame.”
“But I didn’t. We’re here together and we have our whole lives together to look forward to,” she said, smiling at him. “There is one thing that’s been bugging me.”
