After she swallowed the pill and chugged some water, she ducked her head. "Well, it's my fault you wanted to go rogue in the first place."

I sighed because it was true. She'd caused all the drama with the stupid cookie.

Kara looked at me with those familiar Emerson green eyes. "I am so sorry, Sky. I should never have done that."

To be honest, I had no idea what to even say, so I remained quiet.

"Kieran won't even speak to me," she said, picking fuzz from her blanket.

"For real?" That surprised me completely.

She glanced up at me, her eyebrows knit together in worry. "Yeah, I've tried texting. I've tried calling. I've apologized to him a million times, but he won't even answer me back."

"That's really strange."

As I sat there drinking my water, I suddenly remembered what she'd said last night about why she'd done it. My God, I'd totally forgotten about that. But it hit me like a ton of bricks, and I didn't know how to feel.

"Kara Marie Emerson, do you remember what you confessed to me when we got home?"

Her eyes went all wide and innocent. "No?" she said, turning it into a hesitant question.

"Well..." I began, clearing my throat. "You said something about trying to break Kieran and Christina up."

"I did?" Her brows shot up into her hairline practically.

"You sure did. And you know what else?"

"Uh, what?" Her voice held an edge of fear.

"You told mewhyyou wanted to break them up."

"Um, um...fuck," she muttered under her breath, turning away to look out the window as a flush of pink crept up her cheeks.

Suddenly, a strong knock interrupted us, and we looked at each other in confusion. Kara moved first, quickly jumping up and rushing out of her bed. She whipped open the door to find Kieran standing there, weighed down by several heavy bags.

"Can I come in?" Kieran asked, a slightly amused expression on his face as she hesitated. He lifted up the bags. "I brought food."

Opening the door even farther, Kara said, "Please. Please, come in." She peered into a bag and tried to open it. "Whatcha got there?"

He ignored her and headed toward our tiny kitchen where he began to unload the food onto our counter.

"I hope you're hungry," he said while continuing to unpack what looked like huge subs, bags of chips, sodas, and cookies.

Kara elbowed him out of the way, grabbed a bunch of food, and headed for the couch, apparently not even worried that Kieran might be furious with her. These two just killed me.

After setting everything else out, Kieran looked back at me, unsure and hesitant. "You hungry?" he finally asked.

I smiled and nodded because I was freaking starving. "I haven't eaten since yesterday. So yeah. Just a little hungry."

"Yesterday?"

"Both of us," Kara said, her mouth full of food.

"Why am I not surprised? You do know it's almost dinner time," Kieran said, shaking his head. "Go ahead, Sky."

He moved out of the way to grab one of the desk chairs and bring it over while I helped myself. Setting my drink and food on the coffee table, I sat down next to Kara who was stuffing her face with chips.

Once Kieran had some food as well, he sat opposite me, glancing between the two of us as we ate like we'd never eaten before. We chowed down in silence for a while as I wondered why exactly Kieran was here.
