As he tried to catch his breath, Josh’s arm was thrown over his eyes. I laughed when he gave me a thumbs up.

“I’m going to wash—” Josh sat suddenly, wincing a little, but in the next second, his hands were in my pants, undoing them. “Josh, you don’t—”

“Shut it,” he ordered and pushed my pants down to the floor. Next, his mouth was on my dick, and he lapped at my pre-cum before drinking me in, taking my dick all the way in his mouth. I grunted around a moan, watching him take me in and out of his luscious lips.

“I’m close,” I warned. Josh didn’t stop fucking my dick with his mouth. He used his tongue to tease, to drag along all sides of my cock.

“Josh,” I cried before I felt my release explode into his mouth. It didn’t stop him though. He took it, sucked it down, and searched for more. Josh even used his hand to drag out the last drop before he licked it away.

My chest rose and fell rapidly, both from the sudden orgasm and that it’d been Josh who gave it to me.

“That was quick,” he teased with a cheeky smile before kissing my stomach.

I swatted his arm. “Watching you was foreplay for me. I was ready to come in my pants.” I gripped the hair on the top of his head and forced his head back. “Did you like it?”

“The arse play or suckin’ you off?”

I grinned. “Both?”

His eyes darkened. “Loved it.” He dragged me down into a kiss.

I wasn’t giving him up.

No matter what, I wanted him by my side, always. I didn’t care that it hadn’t been long. I knew he was mine.

Chapter Sixteen

Ruin

The funeral had come and gone. I had been with Taro the whole time, while Cowboy also stayed in Melbourne and hadn’t left Mimi’s side since arriving. Mimi didn’t seem to mind one bit. They looked at each other with stars in their eyes—when Mimi wasn’t dragged under by painful thoughts. She seemed to be handling it better than I’d thought she would. It probably had a lot to do with her father being a bastard.

A couple of days after the funeral, Taro and I sat early one morning in the kitchen. It was one of the rare moments he’d sent the guards away. They seemed to be more present than they had been. Them doing so had concern sinking into my gut.

“Taro.”

He lifted his eyes from his phone and smiled warmly. “Yes, pet,” he purred.

Hearing his name for me brought my own smile forward. I shook my head and asked, “Is there something coming up I should know about?”

Shifting on his stool, his flirty look disappeared. “What do you mean?”

“With all the extra protection gettin’ around.”

He bit his bottom lip and sighed. “I worry.”

My brows shot down, my gut clenching. I’d figured as much, which was why I still carried my gun with me. Still, I wanted Taro to confirm my fears. “About what?”

He smoothed a hand over the counter my way. I took it in both of mine. He licked his lips and stared down at our hands. “You know the types of businesses I handle within the family.”

I did. Always had. “Yeah.”

He dropped my hand and straightened on the stool. “There are people who want our trade and would do anything to get it. They will see Father’s passing as a weakness, use it as an opportunity to take out the main contender in the city. We added extra protection because of the increased threat. If anything happened to Mother, Mimi, the family… you, I….” He shook his head.

“But you’re not worried about your life?” I accused, already aware he was that type of guy. He wouldn’t care about himself, only others.

Taro smirked and shrugged.

Then I would do it for him. I would protect him.
