He picked her up and carried her into the living area of the small three-bedroom house they’d been given.

After setting her down on the sofa, Roman wrapped a blanket around her, sitting next to her.

Then Salem brought her over some toast and water in her sippy cup while Alexei found them something to watch.

And it was kind of a perfect start to their holiday.

“Are you crying, darling girl?”Roman whispered to Tamsyn as they stood and watched Alina marry her men.

They were in the gardens of the palace, and it all looked amazing. White chairs had huge silk ribbons tied to the back of them. There was an archway of flowers that Alina and her men stood under on top of a white platform.

Later on, there would be drinks and dancing. Everyone just seemed so happy.

“Yes.”

“Why? Are you unhappy?” he asked, alarmed. He’d thought that she and Alina had gotten along really well.

“No, not at all. It’s just so beautiful.”

She was crying because she thought the wedding was beautiful? That made little sense.

But then a lot of things in a relationship made little sense, sometimes you just had to push away logic and thought and go with things.

Something he often found hard. Which is why he was stuck overthinking what was meant to happen tonight. What he and Alexei and Salem had talked about.

Yeah, he was nervous. But did he want it?

Definitely.

After the ceremony, he grabbed a plate to fill with finger food for Tamsyn. The main meal was later tonight, but she’d need some food to keep her going.

She was finally getting some color in her cheeks and keeping some much-needed weight on. He liked to think he’d helped with his meal plans.

However, it probably helped that she wasn’t stressed all the time. With a full plate, he walked back to where she stood with Alexei and Salem. Ian and Jack, who often acted as Alina’s bodyguards, were talking with them.

“Here you are, darling girl. Eat something. I got you some protein, carbs, and healthy fats.”

She smiled at him. “Thank you.”

A dark-haired woman and another man walked up to them.

“Ahh, good. I wanted to introduce you guys to our Maggie and Jameson. This is Salem, Alina’s brother, Alexei, Roman, and Tamsyn.”

“It’s you,” Maggie whispered. “Well, your hair is no longer dark, but it’s you.”

Roman tensed, wondering why she was staring at Tamsyn like that.

“Umm.” Tamsyn appeared hesitant.

“Or am I not meant to know you? I’m so sorry, did I ruin your cover?”

“Maggie?” Jack asked. “What’s going on?”

“Umm.” It was Maggie’s turn to appear hesitant.

“It’s all right,” Tamsyn said. “I was undercover, but now I’m not. And my hair used to be dyed. You can tell them.”

“Tamsyn is the woman who saved me when I was kidnapped,” Maggie said.
