“If you want it, you’re gonna have to ask nicely,” he whispers in my ear, his lips skating along my skin, his breath brushing the hair along my neck. I shiver as goosebumps rise along my arms and chest. He slides himself through my folds again, and I know he’ll keep this up until I speak.

Swallowing thickly, I bite the bullet and beg like a good girl. “Please, Vahru. Please.”

His dark chuckle sends another shiver through me before he lines himself up and, with the speed of a snail, slides his length into me. My moan is drawn out until he bottoms out, where he pauses for a long moment before he pulls back just as slowly, only to repeat the process.

His body hovers over mine, his chest and stomach brushing mine in soft, slow touches as he grinds in and out of me, drawing out my pleasure in the most frustrating way. My knees lift and pull back, hoping for a better angle, but the pace keeps the buildup from growing.

I groan, my head thrashing side to side as he chuckles, catching my bottom lip between his teeth. He sucks my lip into his mouth, his tongue laving across it as I moan beneath him, his cock pressing into me, deeper than before, as he releases my lip, his tongue diving into my mouth. I moan, my body arching into his as I suck on his tongue with all I have.

That’s all it takes to cause his composure to weaken, his hips jerking into me. The pace is still slow, but he’s no longer languidly sliding into me, he’s slamming into me, hitting that bundle of nerves with just the right amount of pressure to cause a build.

He tries to pull back, but I refuse to release him, sucking on his tongue harder as I moan around it, my eyes rolling in my head as he groans, his cock hitting just right as I finally come undone, screaming in my throat. I finally release his tongue, gasping for breath as my body arches, squeezing him into me, and he curses.

“Fuck, Kari.” He growls as my orgasm washes through me, and when it begins to subside, he fucks me as if his life depends on it. He slams into me over and over, sitting up as he holds my hips up over his thighs, the angle pressing him deeper as I scream and dig my nails into his forearms. His tail wraps around my calf as I come undone, my body clenching as my lungs stop working.

“God, I love watching you come on my cock, baby.”

His pace is unforgiving as he chases his own release, his eyes locked on our bodies until he finally slams home one last time, his cock twitching inside me, right into that spot that has me seeing stars. He shivers as he pulls himself from my body and collapses beside me, panting for breath.

“Did you get enough to eat there, big guy?” I chuckle as I turn to look at him, his laugh shaking through him. It’s one of my favorite sounds, and I commit it to memory as I stretch, pushing myself to sit on the side of the bed.

“We better get dressed to meet everyone and prepare for the day.” I sigh as I look over at the closet, our clothes hanging neatly. Despite all my hope that I’ll find a solution, there’s still the dark cloud that hovers nearby, ready to rain on my good mood and remind me that I have yet to figure out Tavionna’s real motives.

Without a way for me to reach out to her, to figure out some way to talk to her, to find a solution to her true problems, I have no way to stop this. It feels as if the downfall of Criido and the village is inevitable, and it’s all my fault somehow. I know that’s unreasonable, but it doesn’t stop the thought from trickling through anyhow.

Vahru’s warmth covers my back as he leans over me, kissing my shoulder. “We’ll all figure this out together. Don’t beat yourself up. There’s still time.”

Smiling with what little strength I can muster, I turn and kiss him. “Yeah, you’re right. Let’s get ready and figure this out.” Jumping up, I head for the closet and quickly slip on some clothes, refusing to dwell on the cloud hovering in the corner of the room.

Our hands swing together as we head for the center of the village to meet our team. I’m excited to see what the kids will think of their new homes with us here in the village. There’s also the excitement over the new shield for the village. My heart will settle a bit knowing that we have at least some sort of protection against Tavionna.

As we come down the trail, I find Jeff, Willa, and their team of hunters waiting for us in front of the chief’s home. The door opens and Chief Criido comes out to meet us with Tonya and Melodia on his heels. “Great, so everyone is here. I’ll message our coordinates to Charlie, and he’ll head over.”

Pulling out my comm, I ping our location to Charlie to make it easy for him, and within minutes, a portal pops open to my right, dead center of the village. Charlie steps through wearing jeans and a Halo t-shirt, his sandy blond hair a bit longer than I remember it being a few days ago when I saw him. How long has it been for him?

“Hey, Captain. Nice to see you again.” He steps forward and shakes my hand, a polite smile on his face.

“Nice to see you, too. I can’t thank you enough for all the equipment you’ve given us. It’s a life saver.” I chuckle as a colored boy about Charlie’s age steps through the portal, walking right up to us. His curly black hair is left a bit long in a fluffy cloud around his head, but his smile is sweet as he gazes up at me.

“Hello, I’m Ethan, Charlie’s best friend.” He extends a hand to me, and I shake it, quickly introducing myself.

“He’s the friend I told you about that started this project. He’s here to help make sure the kids will be happy with the arrangement,” Charlie quickly explains, and I nod along in understanding.

“That’s great. That there is Willa, and she’s going to be showing the kids where the cabins are, getting them situated. She’s in charge of helping them settle in, she’s a real sweetheart and will be a good gentle soul for them to adjust to. Jeff, there, and his team of hunters have been working on more security rounds and protocols to protect the kids and the village, so we’ll make sure they have a safe home to stay in.”

Charlie nods along before meeting my gaze, his hazel eyes assessing me closely. “This threat you needed the shield for, should we be worried? Should this wait?”

I swallow and answer as honestly as I can. “I don’t think so, but it’s hard to know for sure. Tavionna has a reach and magic unlike I’ve ever seen before, but I have a feeling that there’s more to her story than she’s sharing with us. If I can figure out what she’s hiding, offer her a different way, maybe we can solve this without violence. The trick is finding the truth and then getting the chance to talk to her. She’s not exactly… stable, if you know what I mean.”

Ethan scoffs. “Yeah, we know what you mean. The shield Layanna developed for you guys held against her friends in the community that have elemental abilities, as well as some others. If it can withstand that and weapons, it should hold up against your magical psycho. As long as you guys can handle her, I think you’ll all be just fine.”

I chuckle and nod my head. “Well, okay then. Let’s get things set up, shall we?”

Ethan heads back through the portal and returns a moment later with a thin alien girl on his arm. She’s got gray skin, black eyes and hair, but pixie-like features that make her look adorable and harmless. Following them are twenty teens of varying ages from fourteen to nineteen, several different species of humanoid aliens, including humans. They all line up to the side of the portal before it closes, and await instructions.

I wave for Willa to come to me, and she hops over, her blue dress flouncing around her and a bright smile on her face as the girls scamper down the stairs to join us, Melodia clinging to my hand. Stepping over in front of the kids, I address them quickly and explain the situation as briefly as I can.

“Hello, my name is Captain Kari Hanley, this here is Willa, she’s going to be in charge of getting you all settled into cabins and helping you find your places within the village. This is Tonya and Melodia, they’re Sautiitions who live here in the waters near the village. They helped build the cabins and will be around to help you adjust as well if you need anything. Today, we just want you to settle into your new homes, get all the provisions you need, and get comfortable. Tomorrow and so on we can start finding jobs for you and making friends, but we don’t want to push anything on you, so if you need anything, don’t hesitate to ask.”
