I stare up at him, my mind still fuzzy from the pleasure he just gave me. “Sorry for what?”
“I bit you. I mated you without your permission.” He curses. “Of course, I fuck this up before we’ve even really started.”
Reaching my hand up, I cup his cheek with a smile on my face. “You didn’t fuck anything up, Wy. I’ll admit, I was a little surprised, but I’m glad you bit me. I told you I loved you, and that’s forever for me, handsome. Maybe we’ll take some time before we complete the bond, but I’m not upset.”
“Really?”
I nod. “Really. Now, stop freaking out and come cuddle with me.”
“Yeah, okay.” Wyatt looks confused but doesn’t argue as he lies down beside me, pulling me against him the best he can without disturbing my leg.
“I love you, Wyatt.”
I feel his smile against my neck. “I love you, too, Lila.”
We must doze off at some point because the next thing I know, my eyes are blinking open to find the room dark.
It takes me another moment to realize what woke me. Lila is struggling to remove herself from my hold.
“Everything okay, babe?”
I can just make out Lila’s smile as she glances down at me. “Yeah, everything’s great, but I have to pee.”
I’m up and out of bed before she can move, lifting her into my arms and carrying her to the bathroom.
“Wyatt! Put me down!”
I shake my head. “Absolutely not. We didn’t even bring in your crutches. I’ll go out and get them shortly, but until then, I’ll be carrying youeverywhere.”
She looks like she wants to argue as I flip on the light and set her on the toilet, but she just presses her lips together as I step back into the bedroom.
“Just let me know when you’re done, and I’ll come back for you.”
I don’t wait for her response as I move to turn on the lights in the bedroom as well. A glance at the clock tells me it’s nearly nine o’clock. Lila must be starving.
I hear curses from the bathroom and hurry back over to find her trying to stand up.
“I told you to tell me when you were done.” Shaking my head, I flush the toilet before lifting her into my arms once more.
“Damn it, Wyatt, I need to wash my hands.”
“Well, duh.” I set her in front of the sink, keeping my hands on her hips to keep her steady. Once she’s done, I lift her up again and carry her to the bed.
Neither of us speaks as I help her redress before pulling my clothes on as well. I snicker when her stomach growls.
She shoots me a glare as she crosses her arms over her chest. “Shut up. I’m allowed to be hungry.”
“You certainly are. Let me bring you out to the couch, and we’ll order dinner before I grab your crutches.”
Lila sighs but doesn’t complain as I pick her up. She wraps her arms around my neck and nuzzles my neck as I carry her to the living room. “I hate using crutches.”
“As do most supes,” I tell her as I set her gently on the couch, pulling over the ottoman so she can put her feet up. “We heal so quickly that when we’re forced to use something like crutches, it drives us crazy. They said the cast should be able to come off in a few more days. It’s almost healed, but until then, you’re just going to have to deal with it.”
She wrinkles her nose. “I need to get back to work.”
“The company is doing just fine without you. That’s why you work so hard to have competent people working beneath you. You’re stuck with me for at least a week before you can go back to work.”
“Ugh, this sucks.”
